Anonymous Coward User ID: 23597994 United States 10/14/2012 09:51 PM Report Abusive Post Report Copyright Violation | true but they never do. the military - of every country- are cannon fodder for the rich That's why we have a volunteer military. So there's no chance that these fortunate kids would be drafted, and because they know they can get enough volunteers. And once someone volunteers, you can put them through more than if they had been drafted. You would have a real political problem if you tried to stop-loss draftees. But here, you just say "it's in your contract." |
Anonymous Coward User ID: 23597994 United States 10/14/2012 09:53 PM Report Abusive Post Report Copyright Violation | Also, our foreign policy would come under more intense scrutiny if kids were being drafted to implement it. Maybe there would be enough push-back to end our policy of endless mucking around in the middle east. And they don't see the need to risk that. |

Even if Obama says he'll do that (and Biden did say very clearly he'd get out of Afghanistan in the VP debate) there could be a new war. Libya came out of the blue, after he said he wouldn't do it. Syria must be tempting to him. I say that sarcastically, bitterly. |

I think he said he was now Active Reserve or something cause he had like 2yrs left on his contract. Well his 2yrs are almost up and they sent a letter to my dads telling him he has to report to houston airport i guess to go back to california. I have not been able to talk to him about. But it seems they are wanting to deploy him again. Where idk, but i have a good feeling on what they are planning. I see people are putting stuff about wars they believe are coming up, so i figured i would throw that out there. I will update when i talk to him, which should be later this evening. Quoting: Guarnere09 I already know his stance on this tho, because we talked about what was going on over there, and he doesnt agree with it. Pathetic politicians. I'm new on this site and I completely understnad your frustration on the situation. BUT, posting things like this about the US possibly having plans involving the next world war - what if the people we're fighting read this and get the wrong impression that the US plans to attack first and in turn prepares their troops... Thus causing World Wars... |

So you would think they would let him be, But we know the government knows best right.... Quoting: Guarnere09 He knew what he was signing up for. In addition, he is being paid. This is what people forget. Why do folks sign up for the mil? Money. Young and Idealistic? free college, retire early............they don't expect to goto war but |
Anonymous Coward User ID: 23597994 United States 10/14/2012 10:04 PM Report Abusive Post Report Copyright Violation | Well im getting off here, i will update when he gets more information, he doesnt have to go until Nov. i think Quoting: Guarnere09 Americans sign up to serve this country (Army, Navy, Air Force and Marines) to defend this Great Country we live in! I hope you are being sarcastic. And I hope the OP's brother knows why he went to Afganistan as it has a lot to do with Opium. I wonder how often military personnel actually question the reasons they are doing a certain job. Seems like most of them have their heads in the sand and don't want to know. They just want a paycheck. They give up their right to ask these questions when they join the military. Especially because it's voluntary. "Mine is not to reason why. Mine is but to do and die." The oath says something different. But if you're given an illegal order, it turns out that generally you'd still better follow it. |

Really why do I care about which regime runs Iraq. Don't kill the people over there and ruin the place to put your own guys in, certainly not in my name! |

You're ion America, so you can be forgiven for not knowing how much we actually know about the States. I get CNN too you know =P And I have American family. I do know how little you guys care. But I do think I have a valid point in saying that if your government IS in fact planning an attack and people are expressing concern about their family members being deployed, I wouldn't exactly advertise it on the net and possibly put your nation or soldier family member at risk. I'm sure they have access to the same sites we do, hell for all we know they're the ones that are trolling LOL :) Just saying.. |

If you have worked in advertising, law, chemical or biological testing and research. Because it is a GUARANTEED gig, with top of the line instruments and you actually get paid to rehearse. Many have bachelor and some have master's degrees and join to perform. It is a GREAT gig if you can handle playing a lot of graduations and don't mind traveling to the middle of nowhere to perform in their auditorium. There ain't that many Armed Services band members. Let's see in the Army everyone's secondary MOS is 11B and the Marines say that everyone is a rifleman first. I know I used to teach it. So you young'uns can come after me. I'll attempt to not treat you like trainees. You see the Avater? Some who have been in the Army will remember that badge Last Edited by dschis1000 on 10/14/2012 11:08 PM |
