Taking antibiotics regularly is only building up a resistance to them. Quoting: Anonymous Coward 25179086 Um, nobody said anything about taking them regularly. This is for emergency purposes. I'm all for natural antibiotic alternatives and I agree they can be very effective- especially the manuka honey for MRSA. That's another one everybody should have on hand and honey doesn't spoil. However, sometimes an antibiotic is the only thing that will work, and if you're in an emergency situation and cannot obtain them, you will be glad you have a stash along with your natural alternatives. Anonymous Coward User ID: 20515218 United States 10/08/2012 11:02 AM Report Abusive Post Report Copyright Violation | I have had an ear infection since August. I went to the doctor in the end of August and they gave me a bottle of ear drops that DID NOTHING. It felt like poison ivy in my ear. Finally, since I didn't have money to go back to doctor, I grabbed a can of disinfectant and sprayed it in my ear. Felt like a bomb went off it hurt so bad. After I stopped screaming 5 minutes later it felt better. It has slowly gotten better. Guess I don't care if it causes deafness or not cause that is the ear I can't hear out of anyway (too many concerts!) If it comes back or my other ear (my good one)starts to hurt I will get me some vet meds. |

When your lungs start sounding mushy, you're going to be very glad you have antibiotics on hand. On the other hand, people who take a low dose daily are shown to have a lower risk of heart disease. It keeps the inflamation in your blood vessels down, which is associated with plaque buildup. CAlifornia vet supply is a good place to get stuff. |

Anonymous Coward User ID: 1067101 Canada 10/08/2012 11:16 AM Report Abusive Post Report Copyright Violation | Many of us here on GLP know that you can get antibiotics without a prescription. For those to whom this is news-- antibiotics for animals are the exact same (even the same manufacturers) as those for humans. Of course they shouldn't be taken willy-nilly, but sometimes you KNOW you need them. Some people can't get to the doctor and some don't have insurance. They are more expensive than getting them covered by insurance, but when you factor in time lost from work for doctor's appointments, and the fact that you may get worse before you can get in to see the doctor, they look a whole lot cheaper. I always have a stash, and they've come in very handy for friends, family and employees several times. Wiki is your friend for dosages and what is best for your type of problem. That and other essential oils are good to have in your stash... After our kids got sick and had to use antibiotics 2x in one year, we learned about this. Neither have used antibiotics for over 5 years... Take that Dr. Dumbdumb... |
