Syrian Army pressed its offensive in Homs seeking to eliminate the last pockets of resistance to free up troops for the north....

It is a huge operation, and we hope to finish up by the end of the week...After that, we will concentrate on the North, the source said...

In Qusayr, a town just 5 km southwest of Homs, activists said troops are attacking from three sides...

Remember the prophecy about Damascus being taken away from being a city and the wild animals will graze there and nothing will disturb them! That's pretty empty for wild animals to graze and hang out and have NOTHING disturb them - all on the site of what was one of the oldest continuously inhabited cities in the world!

A single nuclear weapon would easily do it. Or a scalar weapon. Or chemical/bio weaons that would render the place unsafe for future human habitation for as long as several hundred years! Take your pick. Lot's of way s for damascus to fall and fulfill the ancient prophecy.
