I have a question for you. How do you think soldiers would react if they were tasked with taking up firearms and detaining those who might refuse?

They did it in katrina .I would not obey a unconstitutional order i think the military would split many soldiers have family and would not do this but you may have to worry about blackwater mercs nato ect

I am in the military and I say no. I wouldn't fire on the citizens. I know that some of the military would because they don't want to disobey their higher ups. But they are willing to go against the oath.

some will turn their weapons on their own squad members and COs.

but if you throw into the mix a couple million very angry gun owners and we have one of the largest standing armies in the world.

That's the job for the FOREIGN troops which are already in this country and around the borders. The foreign troops owe NO ALLEGIANCE to you, so they'd fill you up with an M-16 REAL quick.

The whole world or the US has gone to complete chaos. Every major store/gas station and hospital are looted or destroyed. There is no food, water or an organized society. It's a free for all. Now imagine you being a troop, seeing all the chaos, not knowing if you still have a home to go back to. Now are you going to walk away and go into the chaos with nothing or are you going to stay where you have food, water, shelter, guns and people you know?

We will be shot at, just like the the German Nazi's did and countless other governments.

Insofar as what kind of danger from our own soldiers we might experience, there's going to be some kids who are too awestruck by 'authority' to disobey. That's a fact.
Blackwater & mercenaries are very expensive for a job that size.

Other things to consider.

Blackwater/mercenaries don't mix well with regular soldiers, in fact they got in the way and messed up some regular ops.
You'd think it would be much more so in terms of conflict in domestic ops.

Then there's what they call 'blackwater envy' because their pay was in the neighborhood of 25-30g's a month. Rough, no rules, no consequences. Psycho thugs.

i guess most of you never heard of the army machine gunning ww1 vets camped out in DC protesting for their GI benefits during the early days of the depression. all it takes for those "miliatary heroes" to turn their arms on even their former comrades is a commander telling them they are in some way "subversive" or "mutinous". i guess you also missed such minor historical moments as kent state ("4 dead in ohio"), the national guard units gassing and bayonetting war protesters, or the abuses they rained down on the civil rights protesters. yeah, i know, it was "them", not you. you are ALL "them", all it takes is the order to come to treat you as such. of course they will kill american civilians.

Why not? Cops have no problem blowing away naked, crazy, or handicapped people....

Volunteer military do what they are told. A draft military shoots their officers and generals in the head when they are not looking for making un-constitutional orders.

All that answer would lead to is the second question, If people dont fire are they going to carry out unlawfull orders that cause them to break their Oath ???

I'd like to say that most wouldn't do it and would leave, but there would definitely be some poor souls that would do it. Especially since they would likely be offering incentives like extra money, power, and the ability to own a gun in a disarmed society. I feel bad for the poor souls that choose to fight with them though. 3 million soldiers (even less depending on how many leave) vs. the entire American public would be a bloodbath, and the public outnumbers the military 10-1.
