What that calling that you first feel when you baptised in the Holy Spirit that makes you feel like you just have to get out there and preach? Is that what you talking about?

Feelings can be deceptive.
 Quoting: Anonymous Coward 20586262

my calling is not to preach.

it is to counsel, minister and teach
 Quoting: Salt

Women are told that they can teach younger women. I would say that if you stay counseling, minitering, and teaching other women and children that would be OK.

I guess what I'm trying to say is our problems are a lot worse than what people think. The churches are totally fallen away. So where you even going to minister? A shelter? An organization?

I'm a woman, an older woman, techically I can teach younger women. I've helped my own husband. Was I to stop helping him because I'm a woman? No. In our days and time we have to try to stay inside the rules but we have to let the Spirit lead. I helped my husband be delivered of 9 demons. Was I not to do that because I'm a woman? No. We should help where God tells us to help. Use our common sense. I couln't just walk out on my husband when he needed help from me. But neither did I want to run out and preach in a church after my husband's deliverance either. Because that is not of God.
 Quoting: Anonymous Coward 20586262

well my hopes is that when i finish seminary would be to work within the church. but, i don't know where God will have me vocate. last weekend, i taught a group of young boys who are struggling with alcohol, drug and sex issues (by invitation) and God led me to Romans 8. I gave the Romans 8 word to the leader of the group prior to the meeting (a man, of course) and when I arrived at the group he asked ME to teach them. i was shocked that he wanted me to deliver the teaching. i stated before the boys arrived (ages 13-20) that if he found correction to bring it forward. but, it was definitely led by the Spirit. Even the group leader learned stuff for which he called my attention to afterward.

the cool thing was that afterward the boys mentioned that there were many girls that have been wanting to attend but didn't feel comfortable because an elder woman was not present. this is where i came in. now, i hear that young girls want to come (teens and early 20s).

Re: Are women allowed to preach and teach in the church? Or are we to be silent?
you bet they are!
don't let anyone tell you that women are to be silent.
God used many powerful women to teach, preach, judge, prophesy, etc.

God called and used women preachers in the Old Testament.

a. DEBORAH - Judges 4:4-5. Deborah was a Judge for both civil and criminal cases. The children of Israel came to her for judgment. She was the chief ruler of Israel for 40 years, giving orders to the Generals and all the army. She did the work of an evangelist, prophetess, Judge, and a preacher. God gave her authority over the mighty (Judges 5:13).

b. MIRIAM - Exodus 15:20; Numbers 12:1; Micah 6:4. She was a Prophetess and a Song Leader in Israel.

c. HULDAH - 2 Kings 22:14. Five men went to Sister Huldah and communed with her. She spoke to a congregation of men concerning the book of the Law. A female preached to a man's congregation, and her message was taken to the nation and produced a revival.

d. MAHER-SHALAL-HASH-BAZ'S MOTHER - Isaiah 8:3. She was a prophetess.

8. God called and used women preachers in the New Testament.

a. The first message of the Resurrection of Christ was spoken by women to a group of men.

b. Anna - Luke 2:36-38. She must have prophesied in church, because she did not depart from the temple.

c. Phillip had 4 daughters who prophesied. Acts 21:9.

d. Priscilla assisted Paul in his revival meeting and even taught Apollos in the way of the Lord more perfectly.

e. Phebe - Romans 16:1-2. Paul commended Phoebe to the Church at Rome and requested that they assist her in her business. She was one of Paul's assistants in the work of the Lord and delivered the Book of Romans to the people from the hand of Paul.

9. There is no sound reason why a woman or man should not preach the Gospel. There is a desperate need in the church for more workers. Laborers are few, and God will use any and all who will go for Him. Some say God will not use a woman to preach, because "The woman was deceived," but remember Romans 5:12: "Wherefore, as by one man sin entered into the world." It seems to indicate that Adam was just as guilty as Eve in the fall of man. If anyone should be kept from preaching because of sin, it would be Adam. But God does not forbid anyone from preaching, because of Adam's or Eve's sin.

10. 1 Cor. 14: 34-35 does not say anything about women preachers. If Paul intended this verse as a general rule to bar all women from speaking in church, then they cannot teach Sunday School, testify, pray, prophesy, sing, or even get saved, and this would contradict the rest of the Bible (Acts 2:4; Acts 2:16-18).

Paul was rather dealing with a particular problem in the church. Women were not educated as were the men in that day; therefore the women would talk back and forth to their husbands in church and ask questions concerning the sermon. Paul said, "If they will learn anything, let them ask their husbands at home; for it is a shame for women to speak in the church." If they want to talk things over let them wait until they get home. This rule is still good for the church today, where people are talking and causing confusion in the church service. They should not speak in church. (Not in the back of the church either before or after services.)

If a woman cannot speak in church, then she cannot speak in prayer meeting, young people's service, etc., for who can deny that Sunday School and Prayer meeting, and Youth work are parts of church? Christ's Church is not a building, but rather it is found where two or three are gathered together in His name, whether at a street meeting, in a tent, a home, church, classroom or anywhere else.

11. 1 Timothy 2:12 is not a blanket rule for all women of all churches. If it were, then the women could not speak at all, for the same verse that tells them not to teach also tells them to be silent.

If all women had to keep silent in church, then that would be promoting disobedience to God, for they could not prophesy, pray, testify, sing, exhort, do personal work, or even get saved.

Whenever an interpretation to a verse contradicts the rest of the teaching of the Bible, we know this interpretation is incorrect, for the Holy Spirit will never contradict His own Word.

Salt,

I know you are very well meaning, but seriously at this point this church you went into is probably fallen away. In all likelihood when you go into this church you're probably going into very demon possessed church and that isn't good for you at all.

People have to start understanding that when you go into the fallen away churches, it's dangerous for them.

Can you possibily help someone in these churches? I don't know? Very unlikely. If nothing else, by what you are doing you are encouraging these youths to stay in this false church. We should all be warning the youth about the fallen away churches, not going into the fallen away churches and helping the youth to stay in these churches. You're sending kids to hell if you do that. You want their blood to be on your hands.

I'd much sooner tell a group of youths standing on the street about Jesus Christ and then warning them to get out of the churches.

this is the type of judgmental, so-called Christian, who effortlessly insults and rebukes THREE churches, without knowing ANYTHING about them, and has absolutely no conviction, humility, or regard.

it is these that makes the title "Christian" such a tainted term.

No, they are not to preach. You can't find a woman preacher or priest anywhere in the bible. Show me a bible verse of one and I'll agree with you.

Woman can do a lot like prophesy, gifts of the Holy Spirit, be called disciples, be helpers of the church, but nowhere is there ever one preacher in the New Testament to the church, SORRY!
 Quoting: Anonymous Coward 20586262

There is not one Scripture in the Bible that forbids women from preaching, but on the contrary, there are many verses that encourage both men and women to preach the Gospel.
 Quoting: Salt

Give me just one bible verse that mentions a name of a woman apostle, bishop, or deacon to the church. That's all I ask for! You can't because there isn't one. Were there any priests that were women? NO. Jesus carried this into the New Testament and it was understood by all in the first church so there was no need to put a verse forbidding it. All apostles Jesus chose were men, Jesus didn't even pick His own mother who bore Him. That should tell you something right there! It does forbid a woman to teach a man. So how can a woman preach, that would be teaching men!
 Quoting: Anonymous Coward 20586262

You mis interpret the verse.
1Ti 2:11 Let a woman in quietness. learn in all subjection,
1Ti 2:12 and a woman I do not suffer to teach, nor to rule a husband, but to be in quietness,

A "woman" here refers to a wife, not women in general. Look at the context.
Secondly, a "wife" is not to "Teach" or "Rule" her Husband, but to be in "quietness" or "submission" to him. She is to learn from Him.
This is in line with Godly order.
This does not mean a woman can not rule or teach over a man or male.
How would male children be taught anything if not by their Mothers?

Thirdly to your question of women in leadership.
Romans 16:7
"Greet Andronicus and Junias (Junia) my relatives who have been in prison with me. They are outstanding among the apostles, and they were in Christ before I was."

Early commentators record that Junia was a female apostle, until the 13th century, when it was changed to a male version of the name.

Dr. Leonard Swidler states, "To the best of my knowledge, no commentator on the Text until Aegidus of Rome (1245-1316) took the name to be masculine." So until the late 13th century, historical references all agreed that Junia was female, as did the men below.

Origen, of Alexandria who lived toward the end of the second century (c. 185-253).
See Epistolam ad Romanos Commentariorum 10, 23; 29.

John Chrysostrom, 4th century, (337-497) wrote, "Oh! How great is the devotion of this woman, that she should be even counted worthy of the appellation of apostle! (Homily on the Epistle of St. Paul the Apostle to the Romans XXXI).

Jerome (340-419) wrote that Junia was a female. (Liver Interpretationis Hebraicorum Nominum 72, 15.)

Also: Hatto of Vercelli (924-961), Theophylack (1050-1108), and Peter Abelard (1079-1142), commented on her being a woman Apostle.

So do not be deluded by False teachers, that distort the true Gospel.
But remember this verse: Gal 3:28 there is not here Jew or Greek, there is not here servant nor freeman, there is not here male and female, for all ye are one in Christ Jesus;
Gal 3:29 and if ye are of Christ then of Abraham ye are seed, and according to promise--heirs.

1 Timothy 2:9-15 shows (contrary to ops opinion that Eve was deceived NOT Adam). All the false "christian" churches have women " preaching" and "running things",they are NOT The Church of God, they are none of His.. The God family is Father God, Lord Jesus and "many sons and daughters..." however women will NOT be in control as in this present world.

All the false "christian" churches have women " preaching" and "running things",they are NOT The Church of God, they are none of His.. The God family is Father God, Lord Jesus and "many sons and daughters..." however women will NOT be in control as in this present world.

i never said Eve was not deceived!!

Eve very much so was deceived. go back and read. it's right there in front of your eyes.

I don't do "helicopter theology" or "sound-bite exegesis", which is why I wrote a whole book of my studies on the matter of the Christian community and its relationships and structure: [link to books.fether.net]

Additional commentary here: [link to bible.fether.net]

And a quick reference here: [link to www.fether.net]

Every one of the claims, assertions, arguments, and objections raised in this thread are addressed in those documents. To try and deal with them in a message board is futile, as anyone can see.

But the most pressing issue is the hateful judgmentalism displayed here on the part of those who would presume themselves the judge, jury, and executioners of God. If they think we are lost, where is the love and compassion? If they think we are saved, where is the brotherly kindness? If they think we are heretics, who gave them authority over us to declare us such?

Who would want to be like them?

No wonder the unbelievers mock us! Look at how many lust for control and power over others, who think they alone have the truth and power of God to execute those who disagree with them. Look at how they foam at the mouth when anyone dares to say that God does not hold one half the human race beneath the other. Look at how they condemn and show no desire to reach out but only down.

By their fruit you will know them.

The thread is a good one as it can cause people to think through what they really believe and why they believe it.

Personally, I'm thankful that God doesn't keep score like humans do, because I'm sure lots of what I believe needs fine tuning.
