The store is in Deerfield Beach about 40 miles north of Miami. Archbold was taken to the hospital, where he was pronounced dead. Police say several contestants ate insects but no one else became ill. In Thailand, large water bugs are a delicacy. If traditionally edible insects are raised in a controlled environment, without pesticides or other contamination, there is no reason that they should not be edible. Cockroaches do, however, eat anything and everything, so that if they are not strictly raised in clean surroundings, on clean food, they could be vectors for anything. You can stamp on Cockroaches and they don't die, they can survive on skimpy resources for lengthy amounts of time and also can survive high doses of radiation. They are amongst the hardiest insects on the planet. On a side note, this world needs a little shake-up because there really is no need for cruelty you know. In fact, this planet would survive and do quite well if cruelty were to cease. Cruelty, by the way, involves stupid, ridiculous eating contests such as this one.
