So I'm deciding to go back to school and I'm debating if I should take the vaccine or opt out? I've already requested the Opt Out form which will be coming in a few days, but I'm still undecided?

What do you guys think and why?

Please serious answers

I voted take the vaccine, but if you are hell bent on opting out your institution's admissions webpage should have a printable form---there's no need to wait for them to mail it to you.

Opt out. The viruses are in the vaccines. It is your choice, but I personally would not have it or any other vaccines.

I've heard these theories as well. It's just that the actual virus is a killer. So I'm a bit confused.

This particular inoculation is designed to protect against bacterial meningitis not viral.

Depending on which vaccine you receive, either the MPSV_4 or MCV_4, you may or may not experience too many side effects. While the circumstances surrounding the passage of law are questionable, the debate centered mainly around emotional arguments, the negative externalities associated with its use are minimal. I would recommend that you take the time to research the vaccine and decide for yourself. The literature is pretty clear on vaccine safety, they're much safer than some would have you believe. Don't believe everything you read on the Internet.

5 stars, a pin request, I voted opt out - vaccines are dangerous & a Kspbump .

The meningitis vaccine affects the menges around the brain & spinal cord. Many who get this vaccine end up getting menigitis. Many of the patients who currently have that meningitis that has killed 8 people so far were vaccinated.

Vit. D3 is your best bet to staying healthy. At least 10,000 IU daily.

I'm in my 3rd year of school & there was no vaccine requirement presented to me.

Re: Should I Opt-Out the Meningitis Vaccine?
Two years ago my husband got bacterial meningitis and almost died of it. They put him in a coma for four days while they got it under control. He got it from an ear infection that crossed over the barrier into his brain.

I never want to repeat those days at the hospital with the doctors telling me that he'd be FINE, then going home and doing the research and finding out that the numbers weren't nearly that reassuring.

He wound up losing 75% of his already failing hearing, and we spent months back and forth with a urologist trying to get his urinary tract back in proper shape. Nothing like having to wear a catheter bag on your upper leg.

He's OK now, but his hearing loss is very significant and won't be getting any better. Even with the most sophisticated of the hearing aids he GETS 2-3 words in five and that's with no background noises. It's enough to drive me crazy... but he's alive and enjoying life.

We didn't even know there was a vaccine for this until well after.bump

Is it too much to ask to be honest?

Vaccines are not dangerous and there is a large body of evidence that shows that they are perfectly safe. The antivaxers cannot overcome Koch's postulates, so they have decided to rely on fallacious reasoning (emotionally charged arguments), anecdotal evidence, and in some cases blissful ignorance. Even those bodies which many claim to be proof of their claims cannot be trusted due to the non-response bias present within the reporting.

Those individuals who have meningitis right now and have passed away, as result of the steroid shots, have fungal meningitis, not bacterial. FYI there is a difference between viral, bacterial, and fungal meningitis.

As for vitamin d3, do you understand the flaws that were present in the few studies that trumpeted its efficacy?

1- 1990-1991-A questionnaire designed to evaluate risk factors for meningococcal disease among college students was sent to 1900 universities, resulting in a 38% response rate. Forty-three cases of meningococcal disease were reported during the 2 years from colleges with a total enrollment of 4,393,744 students, for a low overall incidence of 1.0 per 100,00 population per year. However, cases of meningococcal disease occurred 9-23 times more frequently in students residing in dormitories than in those residing in other types of accommodations. The low response rate and the inability of the study to control for other factors make these results difficult to interpret.

The risk of the vaccine FAR outweigh the benefits. Too many kids have been injured or killed by the vaccine.

As far as D3 goes, I've been taking 10,000 IU daily for 4 1/2 years. I used to get sick every 4-6 weeks for 7-10 days but since I've been taking that I haven't been sick that entire time. D3 boosts the immune system to ward off sickness.

Wonkish, we are going to have to agree to disagree.

Buyer beware: More and more drugs & vaccines are now manufactured in China. When was the last time that you heard a drug manufacture being held accountable? The fines they receive are but a mere fraction of what they profit.

Of course not all are bad... but the trend is heading in the wrong direction.

I prefer the liquid form. 2,000IU/drop. It's in an olive oil medium. Take it straight or add it to soups, etc. Note that you can take 25,000 to 50,000 in one shot and D3 is fat soluble. So your body will store it and use it as needed. I dose up every few weeks.

You, to include those who oppose vaccines and modern science altogether, cannot prove that the vaccine is the causative agent and the literature has continually shown your promulgations to be false. So why do you and your ilk continue to pose lies?
