Have ya'll seen the new pur water filters now say they filter out chemicals except healthy fluoride, LOL

This is what it says on the box of the filter i just purchased yesterday:

"Our unique, premium carbon filter reduces chlorine and an average of 96% of trace levels of pharmaceuticals. Yet, it still leaves behind benefecial flouride. It also removes 95% of mercury"

What do ya'll think?

so what about the 4 percent of trace pharmaceuticals, the flouride, and the 5% of mercury that is left behind?

I think I'd buy a different filtering system as this one seems flawed. PS. The word is Except..not accept. Must be from the south..

Well damn. I cant even get a decent over the counter filter at my local store. The only choice i see that i can purchase in store is an osmosis filtering set up that has to be instaled under the sink. And its not cheap.

Any other alternatives?

Yea the osmosis one under the sink would work..I have one I think we got it at Lowe's it wasnt too bad and it works very well. So a little more money but it can get rid of so many more things that are hazardous to your health so worth it.

Flouride particles are mega small, almost like a Gas.

So to remove them, u need a fancy filter.

You can get them but it's not them norm

I just wish i could buy a water filtered pitcher that does exactly what i want it to do.

Almost none of the common filters take out fluoride. You need at least a 2 stage filter with one stage being acrivated alimina, or reverse osmosis or simalar technology.

The pur ad take a negative about hte product and tries to make it a positive, common practice in marketing.

Do some research on Britta and other cheap filters and see what each removes....you won't find fluoride on any of them.

You can leave the water out for 24 hours and the flourine gas will be gone.

I could of sworn that when i first purchased the pur pitcher, that it touted having a two stage system built into it making it better than the Britta. It was all a lie now i see. Damn!

Now i like the sound of that, cuz my pitcher sits out for that long anyway before i drink any of the water.

BTW it must be a pretty expensive process if they must inject the fluorine into the water.

The fluoridated water has to be distilled.

Those water filters cannot remove floride.
