Anonymous Coward (OP) User ID: 24612324 India 10/09/2012 10:20 AM Report Abusive Post Report Copyright Violation | why oh why when it comes to work you never see those good american engineers to be requested for job positions? Quoting: Anonymous Coward 25241047 probably in 3rd world country but for the rest of us...they suck. i don't think so.asian education is entirely different than western education. And proof is here.weste is more technologically advanced than east.every technology is discovered, perfected by white guys(n women now a days). even italy produces some of the best mechanical engineers in world. |
Anonymous Coward (OP) User ID: 24612324 India 10/09/2012 10:22 AM Report Abusive Post Report Copyright Violation | why? Quoting: Anonymous Coward 24612324 whenever i open any technical book,it is written by white guys in US. ALL the modern developments in engg made by them. why is it so? why no asian country could build MIT? i open fluid mechanics books and every book is written by american or european guys...it show they understand technology better than anybody else |

Sure, the United States does produce good engineers, and they have invented lots of great things, but if you want to see where the real game changers were invented in terms of engineering you need to look to Europe, especially the UK. Quoting: Anonymous Coward 23992770 Europe (inc. the UK) gave the world things like modern industry, railways, metal architecture, jet engines, computers - the list goes on.... i am not discounting europe including england. They produced greatest engineers but from the reports i hear from industry.the recent engineers from UK univ are not upto mark..but the older engineers(age > 40) are still good |

In a barn, behind my house, in Ohio, USA. We are still here, and we are still good at what we do. |

Educate 10 Japanese engineers and on a scale of 1 to 10 you'll end up with 1 "6" and 9 "7"s. In the US you'll get 2 "4"s, 1 "5", 2 "6"s, 4 "7"s, and 1 "10". In the US, we allow the creativity of the genius to succeed. And conversely, the weak ones to fail. Unfortunately since that time, much of the incentive for the genius has been dampened. And everybody passes. |

And everybody passes. I think this is it. America generally tries very hard to allow the best to really excel. Culturally, risk-taking and experimentation are encouraged, even celebrated, although there is arguably less of this mentality than there once was. So when you open a book, and see a world-class expert as author, there is a good chance he is American. But we are not as good as developing middle of the range talent. I think we used to better at this, but our public education system has seriously shit the bed. Motivated kids with motivated parents can still do very well because of the range of opportunities, but average kids with average parents are likely to end up with a seriously subpar education. |

Earth Daughter User ID: 202278 United States 10/09/2012 11:31 AM Report Abusive Post Report Copyright Violation | Many American engineers are actually German engineers who are Americans. Quoting: Anonymous Coward 18308331 LOL I had to laugh when I read your words. My brother is a brilliant engineer, and yes, our ancestry is German. I never made that connection before, though. I tell you what, though, both my brothers grew up taking things apart and putting them back together again. Any latest electronic device - they had to figure out how it worked. One went on to become an engineer and now he's VP of engineering for a very well known corp. The other works with laser technology and he also takes apart and rebuilds computers to make them even better on his spare time. I don't know if it has anything to do with the German heritage, though. "Arrows of hate have been shot at me too, but they never hit me, because somehow they belonged to another world, with which I have no connection whatsoever." - Albert Einstein |
