Probably not...but, after hard rains in Florida, I've seen a pasture fill with rain water, then the ground started shaking and WOOOSH! All the water drained down like a toilet bowl into a deep hole.

Hey folks (recopied to this thread too)

The entire meeting was taped tonight and I'm glad because we finally got some answers. I'll just let y'all watch and listen. Also, the diesel smell is back and strong again, so I won't be surprised to hear there was yet another cavein. I need to watch them myself to digest everything said.

Patassa, you did read that comment in the other thread, right?
Supposedly someone got an email saying the date of the meeting was posted incorrectly and not being held until tomorrow?
 Quoting: Anonymous Coward 14779720

He is looking at the wrong area. There is a section dedicated to Bayou Corne for all news, then there is a Parish blog, 3 links down in the list. Anything that is posted on the BLOG, we get an email telling us what it says. If it's extra important or urgent, we also get a text message and a phone call.

8:45 a.m. Morning Update
October 9, 2012

//Driving of casing in the third vent well is complete, they were able to go down to 200′. We are advised to expect flaring by the weekend.

We have been advised that Texas Brine is continuing clean up at the sinkhole site.

The resident briefing will be held this evening at 6:00 p.m. at the Command Post.

A Friend, this is the 3rd time I think in 13 years this has happened here.
 Quoting: Patassa

Wow, I didn't know that. I hope this one isn't any larger than any of those. Much Luck.
 Quoting: A Friend

Sorry....let me clarify. 3rd time for gas problems, not a sinkhole.

How can you guys down there take this shit any longer without kicking up your heels? Your health is at risk!

Texas Brine cavern has been breached and what is leaking is diesel and after that leaks out it is toxic liquid stored in these caverns. Virginia is dealing with broken pipes from an earthquakes months ago. Big companies are going to cover up anything they can. Wake Up!

All videos from Tuesday’s resident briefing are posted at:

Uncategorized8:45 a.m. Update
October 11, 2012 //Texas Brine advises that clean up continues at the sinkhole.

We are expecting the LA State Police helicopter for a flyover this afternoon. We will post a video as soon as that is complete.

The Shaw Group will be logging vent well #1 today to see exactly how much gas is present.

There was a short period of time that Highway 70 was closed this morning while a flare was checked at Crosstex. The flare was quite large; however, we have been advised that it was within normal operations. The road was closed as a safety measure to verify that it was actaully a flare and not a fire on Crosstex property.

Geoprobes have been placed on 2 individual private properties in Grand Bayou. Data from these geoprobes is not available yet.

A 25 foot section of pipeline (from Acadian Gas’ pipeline) floated to the surface on yesterday on the edge of the pipeline right-0f-way. The pipeline was emptied previously which made it become bouyant and since the sinkhole occurred there is no earthen cover to keep the pipeline submerged. The risks associated with this incident is for workers in the sinkhole – that they don’t run into/over the floating pipe. Safety measures are being taken at the site to avoid the risk. Pictures of the floating pipe are being uploaded to our Flickr site, [link to www.flickr.com] this morning.

YouTube was awfully slow yesterday and the resident briefing videos are being added as the site allows. Hopefully, all videos will be uploaded later this morning.

Uncategorized6:40 a.m. Crosstex Flare
October 11, 2012 /

/Hwy 70 was periodically closed earlier due to an unusual flare at Crosstex. We’ve received inquiries about a well being in fire… This was a large flare and NOT a fire. Although the flare was large, we’ve been advised that it was still within normal operations. The road was closed for safety purposes while the flare was checked. The road is now open.

Remember I told you that all of that area was water that just looked like it was solid ground? Again, there was NEVER a road over the pipeline. Nothing can be put over a pipeline once it is down. Not even dirt.

One example and informative article about gas and pipelines in Michigan:

[link to www.consumersenergy.com]

Consumers Energy pipeline corridors

Consumers Energy pipeline corridors are located on both company-owned land and rights of way (easements) obtained from other landowners.

Pipeline corridors must be kept free of trees, buildings or other structures to help ensure we deliver reliable energy to Michigan homes and businesses.

These and other obstacles may cause safety hazards and impede the path of emergency and repair vehicles.

For public safety, the following general guidelines should be observed on all pipeline corridors:

•No structures, such as buildings, sheds and swimming pools should be located in the corridor
•No underground facilities, such as drain tiles, culverts, electric cables, septic systems, water wells, water or sewer lines, or similar facilities should be constructed in the corridor
•No soil is to be added or removed over the pipeline
•No roads should be constructed over or across the pipeline
•No trees or shrubs should be planted in the corridor

•No blasting should be conducted in the corridor

Afternoon, Patassa! Granny here.
Some interesting info. Thanks for the continuing updates.

Just some perspective from where I live...

Not sure if your info about pipelines is for gas only, and location specific, but out here in W Texas, they generally bury pipelines. Some deeper than others. But very seldom are the pipelines above-ground, and they do have roads - both paved as well as caliche - over them. I have buried pipeline on the far side of my property. It was like that when we bought the place. I've also worked as a pumper, and there are buried lines - both large and small - all over the place. THe bigger lines have right-of-ways just like was not far from the sinkhole. They are putting a new line for oil transmission across much of this area because we are producing more oil than the existin pipelines can move.

Anyway, guess there may be different processes and regs depending on the location.

Stay safe!

I do too, Earth Cries.

I'm no Physics Major, but I do know the law that says Space abhors a vacuum meaning that when you take something out of a space, something has to come in to fill the void.

Now compare this to all of the bubble spots all over the Bayou Corne area and the surrounding areas. I could be totally wrong here, but the only thing that can fill the void left by the escaping gas is the ground above as we are seeing happening with the ever expanding sinkhole.

When they drilled Well B out in the Gulf, BP and Mancado KNEW the shelf was unstable. The seabed there is the beginning of the North American NG pool that goes all through the Midwest, Texas (almost to West Central Texas), and up into the Great Lakes and Canada in Ontario where the St. Lawrence river acts as a geographical national boundary between Canada and the US.

I don't know what they think they are doing? The topological maps show the area where they are going to start venting this supposed 5ft plume of methane as being over 1400 ft deep...I mean the depth of the salt dome near it. So only a 5ft plume? Really? And the guy in the second video Alexis posted clearly said that the crude being found in the sinkhole could very well be from the Gulf.

Really? Well no shit! Check the flow of the Aquifer under all of those hydrocarbons. It flows North North West out of the Gulf then turns North North East all along that lovely New Madrid fault line.

I say again. When you take something out of a space, something rushes in to fill it. Just like a Thunderstorm. The Thunder is actually the sound made by air rushing in to fill the void left by the discharge of particles which we call lightning. They keep playing this down like it's no big deal, but I'm telling you, these "experts" don't have a clue what is going to happen nor what is happening nor how to stop it.

Hi granny and thanks for that info. I didn't spend much time on it, and couldn't find anything from Louisiana on it. I know I've seen them buried. Even these 2 at the road are underground, but they def don't have roads built over them. All of that area is so soggy, it is no suprise they floated up since they only have air in them.

No, I definitely don't know more than the Shaw Group. Definitely not. I guess what I'm getting at is why are more areas of gas bubbling out of the water around the sinkhole and miles from the sinkhole increasing in number if the area the sinkhole is in is the only problem we are told exists.
