People who think that shutting down the entire grid (or most of it) clearly don't know about the black out in the north east in 2003 that was North Americas largest blackout which was most likely caused on accident by a random worm that infected too many critical systems.

The official reason to this day is still overgrown trees.

Imagine what would happen with a virus that was written with this sole purpose.

This is why I believe it is a matter of when and not if.

Get a good, light, street legal dirt bike with a big enough seat for two. You can get around the broken cars and go cross country. Just make sure it has a kick starter and points on a magneto. It should survive.
