LMAO!
I think shutting a whole grid down would be next to impossible. But who knows.
 Quoting: Anonymous Coward 22755263

People who think that shutting down the entire grid (or most of it) clearly don't know about the black out in the north east in 2003 that was North Americas largest blackout which was most likely caused on accident by a random worm that infected too many critical systems.

The official reason to this day is still overgrown trees.

Imagine what would happen with a virus that was written with this sole purpose.

This is why I believe it is a matter of when and not if.

We are long overdue for a "pearl harbor" cyber event.

i'll just drive 50 miles away to my parents farm. oh wait... what if i can't drive my car if an EMP knocks it out.. or the roads are full of broken down cars...

i guess i'll walk 50 miles to get to a nice rural area if i have to. with minimal supplies so that i don't get mugged.

Get a good, light, street legal dirt bike with a big enough seat for two. You can get around the broken cars and go cross country. Just make sure it has a kick starter and points on a magneto. It should survive.

It is, to me, sad how fast people forget the FOUNDATIONS of our fine country! This country was built by an armed population capable of fending for themselves, and will be lost by couches full of potato-sheeple riding their 52" HD-LEDTV's into the orwellian sunset. :(

Pretty soon they'll all be Walmart employees too.
