You will find something more similar to this ring.
I've been in the jewelry business and I have never seen anything recently produced like what Obama is wearing. This has to be a rather old piece. I think the origin of this ring is going to tell far more then what the script says.

The ring is just a ring with swirly patterns. Have you bothered to search for images of islamic jewelry before you came to this conclusion? The ring isn't just a ring with swirly things. Arabic script is very artistic. It iis actually an art form similar to chinese script. This script is seen time and time again in traditional islamic jewelry. I think the origin of this ring is going to be really interesting...
