like everyone elses comments, in layman's terms means that this case sets a precedent to basically scapegoat companies into financial oblivion based on damages incurred by their products, through the use of a person, rather than the person because their use of the product.

Maybe the corporations will have some federal courthouses created to handle the lawsuits, (as the pharmaceutical industries have done, at taxpayers expense) so no corporation could be held accountable for anything.

Activist judges strikes again it would seem.

Step1..
Fluffy Corp cans some corn and sells it to the public following all the proper laws.

Step2..
Bob buys the corn and adds some bad rotten ingredients and resells it as corn surprise.

Step3..
You eat it and get sick so you sue Fluffy Corp instead of Bob?




Sorry but that's what this ruling equates to. Cans of corn are perfectly allowed under our Constitution. If someone missuses a can of corn it's not the fault of the manufacturer but the next closest party involved.

Sounds like a pretty clear case of judicial activism. I would expect the gun manufacturer to appeal the decision to a higher court.
