I just wonder why the Fukushima accident is considered worse than f. ex. 3 Mile Island and Chernobyl?
The Chernobyl accident spewed radioactive waste all over the northern hemisphere, but still you say that Fukushima is gonna be worse for us up here, of for that matter, the whole planet?
I don't know much about radiation or nuclear science, so please enlighten me.
Quoting: Kalles Kaviar They were able to entomb Chernobyl. In Fuku, radiation levels are so high, nothing and no one can get close enough. Robots "die" after only a few hours of exposure. In Chernobyl, they were able to stop the fissioning process, something they haven't been able to do in Fukushima, so radiation continues to be emitted from the site. A full 18 months later. The Japanese themselves have admitted it will take 35 yrs. or so before they'll be able to clean up the mess. That's if you believe anything the Japanese government or Tepco say :).
