I'm in Virginia so definitely didn't feel it, however there is a friend of mine that posted this on a forum for a hobby of mine approx 9 min ago.
'So we just had a quake, not big or anything.... anyways, i have an interesting question if theres any seismologists here...
I've experienced several decently powerful earthquakes and smaller ones too, they all felt more or less the same, steady waves shaking the ground, sideways mostly and a bit of vertical motion too.
Tonights quake was completely different, and im dying to know why.
It was a high frequency rumble, and it was audible, i heard the rumbling pretty loudly. is this because of the soil structure underneath montreal? is it mostly rocks and therefore the frequency at which the vibrations are felt are much much higher?'
