[link to www.spaceweather.com] It will happen some day. |

The CD (portable) player. Once it's out of batteries, the beautiful music will be gone for a long time. If we survive long enough, orchestras/bands will start back up, but it will take time for people to have the leisure to do it. Quoting: LindaE In small, reletivly safe communities people will work hard all day and have time to enjoy each others company, food, drink etc in the evening. Music will live there. |

Really no need to worry about such a scenario happening OP. I used to fear this a lot until I watched a BBC Horizon programme that sorts the facts from the crap. (go on youtube and search horizon solar storms , infact here it is, [link to www.youtube.com] Now at first it seems real scary but when you actually consider the massive efforts that are constantly been undertaken to predict and counter act such a scenario, you will see that we have plenty of time to do things about it. It will happen but we can know when it does and we can take pre-emptive actions to avoid a total blackout. There are lots of things to worry about, but not this one! Me I am more nervous about an Alien invasion! |

I will miss being able to look up things on the Internet, but I think I will particularly miss the foods that will disappear once there is no longer food trucking; coffee, peanut butter, chocolate and basically anything sweet would be difficult to come by I think. If a sun spot was earth facing and exploded with a flare the size or the Carrinton or larger, we'd have no time to prepare. It hit very quickly. |

I've used these a few times. They are easy to make, can use rain water. So showering in warm water will be possible. In the dead of winter it will be challenging, but hey...take the good with the bad. |

I lose power a lot where I live. I lost it for 2 weeks from an ice storm 9 years ago. I lost it for a week last summer. I'm a prepper so I did well. Not having electric lights was the hardest to me. Oil lamps only throw out so much light so I just went to bed early. It actually was kind of nice living in the 1800's but I was happy when the lights came on. |
