That's a great question. Particularly since the devices that are being rolled out locally, Elster REX2's, do not even have an UL approval. The FCC has published RF radiation guidelines, which for all we know are fictitious. And a local judge stated recently that no matter our concerns locally for the effects of long-term exposure, federal law supersedes state law regardless.

In consideration of an administration who's deceit eclipses Watergate; And cameras in your face at every traffic light, in every store, and along every highway etc.; And the "piece-de-resistance," the surveillance drones, is it safe to assume that there may very well be plausible concerns regarding these things?

Agenda 21 is VERY real. Cap-and-trade is VERY real. EnergyAxis architecture is VERY real. The Advanced Metering Infrastructure implementation is VERY real. Shouldn't we just consider this matter of Smartmeters to be as real as the Draconian state we're living in? Or are the meters going to prove to be smarter than we are?

It's interesting to note that the utility has continued to provide NOTHING in the way of substantive information to the lawmakers and consumers, except to say with a wink and a nod, that they promise not to use it as a gateway device.

Do we have any electrical engineers in the audience that can define the distinction between a HAN, or Home Area Network, and a wireless data network? Because by all accounts, the HAN consists of the actual wiring throughout the house and associated components, any device that is plugged in to it, and the circuit panel. Everything beyond the service entrance apparently.
