What an idiotic idea.
"God forbid we should ever be 20 years without such a rebellion. The people cannot be all, & always, well informed... If they remain quiet under such misconceptions it is a lethargy, the forerunner of death to the public liberty... Let them take arms... What signify a few lives lost in a century or two? The tree of liberty must be refreshed from time to time with the blood of patriots & tyrants. " - Thomas Jefferson in 1787

some dumb guy got charged with assault for farting near a cop. the cop said it was very odorous and the smell assaulted his senses.

so now farting is a violent act. how long till farting is taxed along with guns and ammo?

The goal is ultimate control. They don't need tax dollars. They just print money here in the states. They just want us to know who's fucking boss.

Right, and that points to the real issue. Government should fear the people, not the other way round. Trouble is government has been taken over by the corporations. Corporations view people as simply assets that they can and do throw away like a used condom. Government is changing, adapting to the ways of the corporations that own it.
 Quoting: Anonymous Coward 5788499

I think the real problem isn't Corporations, but Secret Societies. Bilderbeg, Skull and Bones. Men with Power.

I will totally agree though, that many corporations are run by Bilderberg, and Skull and Bones members. The NFL was even started by a Skull and Bones member.

This was first proposed by Senator Daniel Patrick Moynihan in 1993 As a way to pay for Clintons failed health care reform that was never passed.

Hahaha. I had no idea. I think that's a bit funny because I can't see this coming even close to boosting almost any revenue for Illinois, let alone the whole country. This is why our nation is really fucked up. The amount of money we spend. And people think taxes can fix it? Hell no.

It’s more of a gun control issue, can’t stop the sale of the gun? Stop the sale of ammo instead.

Most important thing is to realize they are still trying to push this on us almost 20 years later; they are very patient and will still be trying this in another 20 years if they do not get it passed.

Once they have a play in the "play book" they will try it every year from then on, sooner or later it will stick.

Oh yeah, I know this is all about gun control. It's been a long and hard battle for a while now. I wouldn't be surprised if more states start doing crap like this. Look at California's ammunition laws that Arnold put in. Real ridiculous.

If I was a resident in Illinois I would be throwing a big fit over this. Why should I or anybody else pay a tax for someone elses careless use of a firearm? The only way I see this working is adding a tax for those that have an offence with a firearm already on their record.

How about no politicians. They keep banning or taxing things that they think are dangerous. We should ban them. I am my own President, as I know what is best for me.

Bullets should obviously be taxed to death.

It only makes sense.
 Quoting: Anonymous Coward 25303064

Yeah, that makes sense. Since the bullets are the ones killing people, not the people pulling the trigger. Dumbass.

this has nothing to do with gangs. The only gangs in Chicago are the Mexicans and they kill each other.
The Blacks kill just to kill since they are an animal culture. there is no rhyme or reason to their killings.

This will solve nothing and only hurt the White legal gun owners. Chicago is the most dangerous city in the US and yet has the most restrictive gun laws in the country.

They so not want you to protect yourself.

Just move away from that shithole.

In an attempt to curb violence and closing a budget gap, Cook County in Illinois is considering a "Violence Tax" on firearms and ammunition.

People need to learn how to build their own firearms, make their own powder, form their own lead bullets, and make cartridges.

It's very easy and you can then avoid paperwork which only helps the wronng people find you, and save money. Also it makes it easier to ditch the firearm if you have to use it as a weapon.

Let's see. How much is the tax on ammunition? $12 per 100 rounds? OK, at $0.50 per round, that's 24 rounds. Would you prefer I pay in FMJ or Hollow Points?

Maybe we should also impose a "stupid tax" on people who are progressive left-wing radicals masquerading as members of the DNC.

I agree but pay close attention. These people are nuts and the goal is clear.

Dated september 27,2012

Article; Should President Obama win in November, it’s a certainty he’ll try once again to ban lead ammunition. Just two months after he moved into the White House, the National Park Service suddenly announced it was banning lead bullets from its parks. The blowback from sportsmen was intense, so the agency backed down. Mr. Obama surely will exert “more flexibility” in a second term to accomplish this backdoor assault on the Second Amendment.

Snip; “The threat to ban use of traditional ammunition without sound science is the most significant threat facing the firearms and ammunitions industries today,” NSSF senior vice president Larry Keane told The Washington Times. “If the Environmental Protection Agency (EPA) were to ban traditional ammunition using the Toxic Substances Control Act, it would destroy the ammunition industry in the U.S., crater conservation funding and create massive supply shortages for consumers.”

The ban is a priority for liberal groups like PETA, the Humane Society and the radical Center for Biological Diversity (CBD) that want legislation to prohibit anything but “nontoxic bullets.” This is mostly an excuse to sue ammo manufacturers out of business. In June, CBD filed suit against the EPA for not addressing the “toxic lead in hunting ammunition that frequently poisons our wildlife.”

Opponents are ridiculing CBD’s “Get the Lead Out” campaign. “The notion that you can get lead out of the environment showed these people should not have passed their high-school chemistry test,” said Mr. Keane. “Lead is in the periodical table. There is no more lead in the environment than there was 100 years ago.

50% rule

Wow. Saw this on Fox just now and didn't even need to read further. Just an attempt to extort money from legal gun owners, it would seem. They won't just up and take the guns outright, they'll keep milking this shit for all its' worth first, by imposing taxes and "fees". They want every last penny. All government, all levels, are out of control now.

That's how it all starts. Fees, taxes, registration, more taxes, higher fees, expensive classes, raising registration fees, higher taxes again...and it goes on and on until finally some asshole gets elected that can brainwash the masses with fancy mass shootings, and we all fall for the gun control thing.
