Georgia, Russia launch 21st round of talks to ease tensions | |
Anonymous Coward User ID: 25317272 United Kingdom 10/10/2012 03:56 PM Report Abusive Post Report Copyright Violation | (GENEVA) - Delegations from Russia and Georgia delved into a 21st round of talks in Geneva Wednesday aimed at easing tensions still evident since a brief war in 2008 over two breakaway Georgian provinces. "It started this morning (Wednesday). All the participants are there," United Nations spokeswoman Alessandra Vellucci told AFP, stressing though that no further information about the talks would be divulged until they conclude with a news conference Thursday evening. Diplomatic relations between the former post-Soviet allies were cut following a brief Russia-Georgia war in 2008 which ended with Moscow's recognition of two breakaway provinces of Georgia, Abkhazia and South Ossetia.
