According to Japanese media, whether the compromise is implemented or not will depend on China's future attitude. We think there is no possibility of Japan making any substantial compromise with China over Diaoyu at this time. Chinese public opinion should have no such expectations. Japan is still a very proud nation though and still isolated in many ways. They don't have a strong enough military to attack anyway so you don't need to worry about any sneak attacks. The culture of the 40's where everyone lives to serves the Emperor is much different than today. They don't need a big military, as long as they have the right equipment and alliance. And the U.S. and Japan are tight. The U.S. is the only thing protecting them from China. If i wasn't for the U.S.A., China would have attacked anytime after WWII til today. Without that protection, Japan would be toast. Question is, could China do it and get away with it. Japan is stalling, and so is China. |
