Court orders internet censorship / scrubbing in Murder Case
This murder case has been really strange from the very start.

First off, after the body was discovered the family from Ireland were "grateful for the role of social media" in their public statement. WTF! Such a strange thing to say, social media had done nothing to aid the gruesome discovery of the body. And this was their first public reaction - a strange thing to do, me thinks, you know to thank Facebook and Twitter when you've just found out your lovely daughter has been raped and murdered. I couldn't fathom it anyhow.

Second, soon after the discovery of the body, the local government / state government announced a program to install up to 3 million dollars worth of more CCTV to entirely eradicate any black spot in the coverage. This announcement went by with barely a whisper from the commentariat.

Now, the Melbourne court is ordering that all material relating to the suspect in the case be removed from the Internet. These legal eagle clowns obviously have no idea how the internet works - or is there something more sinister going on?

"Ms Broughton [the deputy chief magistrate] said she disagreed with the view that the internet was an unregulated and anarchic environment that meant any ban would be futile. Most websites such as Facebook had sophisticated organisational structures that could be held accountable, she said."

...the suppression order was needed to send a message to those responsible that continued defiance would result in criminal sanctions and would not be tolerated.
