Re: WHO IS JOHN GALT? Atlas Shrugged II: The Strike
The global economy is on the brink of collapse. Unemployment has risen to 24%. Gas is now $42 per gallon. Brilliant creators, from artists to industrialists, continue to mysteriously disappear at the hands of the unknown.

Dagny Taggart, Vice President in Charge of Operations for Taggart Transcontinental, has discovered what may very well be the answer to a mounting energy crisis - found abandoned amongst the ruins of a once productive factory, a revolutionary motor that could seemingly power the World.

But, the motor is dead... there is no one left to decipher its secret... and, someone is watching.

It's a race against the clock to find the inventor before the motor of the World is stopped for good.

Re: WHO IS JOHN GALT? Atlas Shrugged II: The Strike
History: Atlas Shrugged is a novel that has generated inspiration and controversy since its publication in 1957.

Its theme is the role of individual achievement in society and its goal is to demonstrate what can happen when individual achievement is undervalued, suppressed and demonized. Complex characters embody heroism and evil, in a plot that combines drama, mystery, romance, and science fiction - the result is ultimately inspirational, not apocalyptic.

Dagny Taggart is one of the finest female heroines in modern literature: intelligent, courageous, and as beautiful as she is strong. She is a rare screen example of life lived on one's own terms, for one's own values. Steel magnate Henry Rearden says, "My goal is to make money" with pride. He is an industrialist who improves the quality of life for all - and values his reward. Atlas Shrugged's villains are evil, but as familiar as our local neighbor - as they undercut and subvert talent and achievement.

Re: WHO IS JOHN GALT? Atlas Shrugged II: The Strike
President Obama has stated that voters are faced with a choice between between “two fundamentally different paths for America.” For those who attended the Cato Institute’s private screening of Atlas Shrugged Part II Sept. 20, those words became resoundingly clear.

Expected to hit theaters October 12, producers Harmon Kaslow and John Aglioloro are hoping their message of individual achievement, smaller government and free markets will make that choice more evident in time for Election Day.

Based off of the Ayn Rand novel written in 1957, Atlas Shrugged Part II begins with a creepily familiar depiction of the economy: decay is rampant, businesses are failing, and companies face shortages. People respond with a sense of helplessness, an apathetic ‘shrug’ and a dream of something more. Fast forward to 2012, and our economy looks quite the same. Today, Atlas Shrugged Part II stands as prophecy fulfilled, as we see the same narrative happening in our present economy.

Part II highlights a debate over which philosophy serves a society best—individualism or collectivism. Rand paints a society in which the government hides behind a façade of “protection” through laws and regulations, but in reality its collective nature actually cripples society. Rand argues that when men are compelled through collectivism rather than their own self-interest, the result is economic chaos.

 Quoting: DL

According to Kaslow, Part II celebrates the themes of capitalism and questions what life would be like if the best intellectual minds went on strike. What if government’s regulatory state became so great that the innovators behind Apple products or Google services simply failed to produce and create value for your everyday life? According to Aglioloro, the greatest enemy of entrepreneurs is the government political class. They “denigrate their own players, they don’t encourage them to win, so what happens? They will underachieve and finally they will tire of the denigration and they will leave.”

Today we see this happening as government regulations continue to come down the pipeline, making it harder for entrepreneurs to innovate and create value. In California especially, many businesses are fleeing the state to seek friendlier business climates. Even Vice Presidential candidate Paul Ryan, a fan or Ayn Rand, said that big government zaps us of our creativity, our entrepreneurial economy, and of our prosperity. By providing individuals with the government option, we drain them of their incentive to produce value for the economy. This is the paradigm that Rand was trying to get readers to realize.

According to Kaslow, young conservatives should care about the themes in the film because it affects their economic future. “In order for this country truly to change, it has to start with the younger generation, having the courage to embrace these ideas. The greatest thing we can do is engage with younger minds who are already are predisposed to this message of individual achievement, smaller government and free markets.”

Actually, I cant wait until the "elite" retreats, some undisclosed location.
Finally they will have to do their own dirty laundry, cook their own food etc.

The world will be much better off without their shit for food, GMO, chemicals al over the place, promotion of their so called "health care", their poisons, their promotion of insignificant magazines, papers, TV-shows and movies, just to keep every one busy and occupied, so that they don't reflect over what they actually think themselves.

And no.. the world won't collapse without them.. thats just a farce for thought.

They have been killing and threating inventors, that would literally set the world free.

Not to mention the wars they been promoting.

The two greatest commandments upon which all the laws and prophets hang are:

1. Love God with all your heart, mind and soul
2. Love your neighbor as your self.

Ayn Rand wants to do away with these and speaks to the VERY opposite - NO God and NO altruism.

Ayn Rand means "Eye" and "Shield" (Randall is "shield of the wolf")

Just remember - Cain was given a mark after killing his brother and Judas was "doomed to destruction" after selling his "brother" Jesus.

Part II of Ayn Rand’s masterpiece, Atlas Shrugged, will be released in theaters on Friday, October 12th. If you missed Part I- don’t worry, so did a lot of people. While Part I was by no means a blockbuster, it gave the producers a foundation for Part II. The newest installment in the trilogy features a bigger budget and an entirely new cast. Whether you believe that Atlas Shrugged II parallels America’s projected path or is a product of capitalist propaganda, I recommend going to see it in theaters.

But thats not quite the issue today anymore.. One man can make food for 200 people with the help of technology, technology that is the culprit of a joint venture of many many thousands inventors.
Actually, today there are tractors (farming equipment) that runs all by it self, using GPS.
We need to learn to share... and have faith that people want to contribute.
Everyone want to be/feel needed. Those that don't.. well there is food for them too..

The amazing part about Atlas Shrugged is that Ayn Rand was a socialist. She wanted to show the futility of capitalism. I think the plan got lost in her heroin soaked brain. The book really shows the distruction caused by socialism. I don't see how it could be viewed as an indictement of capitalism, but that was her plan.

Re: WHO IS JOHN GALT? Atlas Shrugged II: The Strike
Atlas shrugged fails to take into account that there are two sides playing the middle.

The decay and corruption is wholly orchestrated by the very same forces which proffer the solution.

Atlas Shrugged is an elitist book about the total destruction of society, by a rich elite, who then run off with all their gold to hide in the mountains while millions perish in misery and violence, while they live in peaceful private jet paradise.

She was Philip Rothschild's mistress and in her old age lived on government support, a thing she had rallied against all her life.

A shill, and elitist, and a hypocrite.

It's still a good read though.

Long though.
