You know, someone asked me once "Are you awake"? And I said "You know, you can wake up and go back to sleep again? Life is one big metaphor." They really did not know what I meant, so I said again, "But, you still have to remain awake until you get tired...being awake costs a lot of energy. But, eventually you will expend it all and go to sleep again."

I think at that point I looked like a nutcase, so I said. "You know, this being a metaphor and all really should not have confused anyone. 1. No I probably can not....but it is most likely emotional influence that disrupts the thoughts, rationality, and logic. Hence why someone as close to you could have an unknown problem. Let alone the idea that your very offspring can't be understood...that could make it even more hazy. I would suggest a third party that is able to witness the problem in real time.

2. It honestly is what you make of it. The end result and the idea of a purpose are almost always two different conclusions. But, when it comes to a purpose I would say follow your gut...it already knows those things.

(I guess I am generic, but don't expect miracles lol) A forum thread just isn't a lot for me...I am not that good. Though I will do my best so

I would say start listening to yourself and you will hear a million answers going on in your thoughts. But, always listen to yourself first, then you will start to see how half of those million answers were based off of insecurity's...and the other half of those answers were possible. The direction is already there, it's just buried and I can't dig it up for anyone else. Sorry

Thanks for the response. I wasn't trying to trick you with the first question. My son just turned 4 years old and he has terrible night terrors, and he says strange things, but he is not yet good enough at speaking to explain what is wrong and why he cannot sleep at night.

Think of the past as a future that already happened. You would know for yourself that way. None of those things really matter though because you already know who you are. Either way you are asking me and honestly, think less of self satisfaction and more about other peoples satisfaction. It matter's more that way. I keep thinking "your life is light"....lol. Well a few times this happened: We would take him for a walk and he rides his tricycle. When we get close to the house he stops and refuses to go home. He whines: "I don't want to go home" Why not? (asked more than once) He tells me "There is a monster in the house" (We don't have a TV, and he does not know about monsters) So then I keep asking him about this monster without using leading questions: "What does this monster look like?" He tells me "He is a daddy"... but he wouldn't say anything more after that.
He refused to sleep in his bed for a long time, choosing to sleep on the couch.
Then, he had a terrible night terror last Saturday:
He was screaming "NNOOOOOOOO!" and fighting in his sleep, it took us 30 minutes to wake him up and it scared the crap out of me. He was so scared. My husband held him a long time after that. The next morning he would not tell me, I asked "What did you see when your eyes were closed last night? he said "I don't want to talk". Finally my husband asked him later, and he said "guys". My husband asked "what did the guys look like?" He said "black" (we don't talk about race or color around our kids so I found this word unusual for him) I asked "what did they do to you to make you scream like that?" He said "They made my eyes closed" and that was all he would say about it.
We are not in a financial position to take him to a child therapist, so we may struggle with it until he can start talking more about what is causing his anxiety.

Try searching YouTube for the story of James Leininger. Little boy who similarly had night terrors at a young age. Just throwing this out there. Maybe when your son is a little older he will be able to tell you what he's dreaming about. Hope you find some closure for him and for you. : )

um, my first thought upon reading this (and hate, hate, hate to say it and hope like crazy it is totally off base) is that someone broke into your home one night

i would seriously get him to talk to someone and there are certainly child psychologists available through social services as i have a friend who does that

I looked up his name and what a coincidence. I have that book on my shelf because someone gave it to me a while ago but I was never real interested in reading it.

I haven't found any evidence of a break-in, but thanks for the input. I won't rule it out, I will just have to hope my son will explain all this once he can find the right words. It is possible that even he does not know what is going on. Thanks for the info on child psychologists... I will look into it.
