The clitoris provided women with a means to enjoy something we men just DO because it's wired in to us. Before monogamy came along, a woman would copulate with a lot of men and the strongest sperm would make it to the ovum.
Now, for her to keep going one man after another there had to be some kind of pleasure involved. The clitoris as a pleasure giver is so vastly superior to the penis that it makes the male orgasm look like a bad joke.
You never hear of threads decrying women for masturbating or telling them their hairline will recede etc.
