Quoting: zooky [link to mars.jpl.nasa.gov] Take a good look and tell me what you think. It's got to be a piece off the rover itself. Notice how it's got no Mars dust on it. Must have came off the rover or any other parts that were involved in the rover's landing. IMHO. [link to mars.jpl.nasa.gov] Ok, I downloaded a couple of images of Sol 65 and whatever that is, NASA is pretty much interested on it because they spent 2 FUCKING DAYS taking pictures of it. Did you guys notice that?? I don't think it's organic! It totally looks like some industrial polymer to me! Yep could be a piece of some component of the landing apparatus, but I don't think it is, because I don't think NASA would spent two days taking photos of rover's scraps. But that piece of plastic is not the cherry of the cake. The cherry is what is on it: [link to imageupper.com] In 24 hrs the object suffered ZERO modifications on its shape or position, suggesting that it was untouched by the rover and weather influence. Therefore, the black spot seen on its edge in one of the images, but not seen in others, is not a spec of dust put there by the wind. IMO that black spot is an INSECT, what proves either that there IS complex life in Mars or the rover is NOT in Mars. In any cases NASA is lying as usual. this^ |

In the second picture (00:21:35)it jumped onto the unknown object. Yeah, totally! However, the interval between one pic and another suggests it is NOT a flying bug or a jumping bug, because it took almost 2 hrs to reach that distance until the edge of the object. Anyway, I'm 110% convinced that it IS an insect, regardless its species. We can even see its legs! NASA epic fail!!!! ![]() "Do or do not. There is no try." (Yoda) |

A heat sheild drop. 2 chute deployments. A RCS activation (rocket control system). A chute detachment, A RCS system detachment. All achieved by pyrotechnics. ie. exploisive bolts, and fittings. All this is achived before landing. Than all the science equipment on board the lander deployed. There is pleanty of opertunity for the creation of small debris. Ok, but the $ 1 million question is: Do NASA scientists have nothing better to do, than taking several pictures of a small piece of trash, during 2 days??? And the $ 2 million question is: What's that black spot that moves from the ground to the edge of the plastic object, in 2 hrs??? "Do or do not. There is no try." (Yoda) |

Take a look at the full resolution image.... Quoting: Travis Bickle I mean, it could be a sheath from some wiring or something like that, which fell off the rover, but I doubt it. Maybe it's a remnant from a Mars creature shedding it's skin LOL Thats what i thought, like a snake shedding its skin. If you woke up breathing, you have another chance! |

| Anonymous Coward User ID: 1565709 10/12/2012 02:26 PM Report Abusive Post Report Copyright Violation | Parameters show... A 25 milimeter working distance, and a resolution of 13.9 micro meters per pixel? Mars Hand Lens Imager (MAHLI) will acquire color close-up images of rocks and surface materials at the MSL landing site at a range of spatial scales with resolution as high as 13.9 micrometers per pixel. [link to msl-scicorner.jpl.nasa.gov] Image Resolution. The MAHLI design permits imaging over a range of spatial scales between about 13.9 microns/pixel and infinity. Malin Space Science Systems follows a strict definition for resolution of in-focus images wherein the optical blur circle is equal to or less than one pixel across. Acquiring images with 13.9 micron per pixel under actual operational conditions on Mars will likely be challenged by as-yet unmeasured uncertainties in the ability to place the camera using the robotic arm.
