Not really a big fan of the microwave, but wow, that will save a ton of time, not to mention a big mess. Never really thought of raw corn. Love raw veggies in general (especially broccoli!), but raw corn off the cob just seems like it would be too hard to me. Guess I am thinking more of that corn they grow for the livestock and not a good ear of sweet corn. Quoting: Rabid_Wolf I think I'll stick to the old way of shucking, cleaning, and boiling. (Some foods are simply worth the extra effort. IMO) Wow, very good point about the chemical residue potentially on the corn. Yuck! With you as well on the process of it all. Some of my best memories surround cooking back in the day with the family. Shucking corn is actually fun! That said, this looks like a great, quick way to get the job done. Although for sure, a quick scrubbing up of the corn is a very good point before eating it. When it catches on fire and starts burning, corn is done. Husk and hair comes off easily and there's very little mess. Keeps the taste of the corn and kills anything in it. The only downside is having the hair burn and get on your other food, so put it on towards the end of your cooking and put it so that the wind blows the hair away from your steaks n such. It tastes better and sweeter raw! Quoting: Anonymous Coward 1509660 Right! Especially awesome if it's Heirloom NON-GMO seed variety sweet corn. I've never had better corn, than right off the stalk, into my kitchen, never cooked.. all raw and organic. Serious question. Shuck the corn and then what, just cut off the corn? I mean, it comes right off that easily? From the love of power to the power of Love - My camera and video gear: [link to graphicstart.com] --- --- --- "Jesus Christ, the Son of God our Savior" |

Russians would never do such a thing unless they wished to be brain dead, overweight or become TV adicts like some western people. Microwave ovens are part of the population reduction program which included drinking cola drinks while you watch TV and many other things. Help is on the way for those who can be revived in time to let go of the fear. |
