I hope they are taken seriously too, I'm in shock, I used to watch that Jim will fix it program when I was a kid, and now this. Thank you BBC. Now every time I hear about this I feel sick because I used to like his TV show.

I think that mainstream uk media will go a certain distance with this scandal, but ritual killing and fucking dead orphans is not going to be discussed on the breakfast sofa with susannah and bill especially given that many of the other demons are still alive and influencial. someone on radio 4 today did say that saville fucked three 14 year olds and boasted that it 'kept him young' which was pretty strange to hear while preparing salmon en croute for my mother's dinner!

Well, these people don't work alone, generally speaking, so, once they start investigating, they will undoubtedly uncover a lot more of these slimeballs. One has to wonder, if so many people apparently knew what he was like, how on earth he got away with it. The obvious conclusion is that there were fellow travelers in high places who made it their business to protect him and, therefore, guard their own backs.

The pressure of popular opinion on this is such that I reckon the shit is very definitely going to hit the fan and a lot of arrogant, smarmy self-important individuals at the top of British "society", media, law enforcement and show business will finally be exposed for what they really are. One suspects, with a certain amount of satisfaction, that there are a great many people who are quietly shitting themselves in the corridors of power. I wonder when the "unexplained suicides" will start

As of tonight, various British police forces who are investigating sexual abuse allegations against Savile are, apparently, pursuing 340 lines of enquiry and are already talking to 40 potential victims.

It seems that, at least on the subject of Jimmy Saville, David dIcke was absolutely right and, to give him his due, he's been banging on about it for yonks. I wonder why he didn't go to the police........Or did he, and was ignored?

Savile was just the tiny little yellow bump on top of the humungous, pustulent boil that is the BBC/ITV.

A few years ago i tried to report a NHS practitioner who was exploiting and abusing very vulnerable patients.

NONE of the authorities (NHS, Social services, police, the registration body etc) wanted to know.

They silenced me by ignoring me, refusing to see the actual evidence, making me out to be 'confused', character assasination, lying (on paper even) etc.

This is just how that Savile's poor victims would have been treated.

Abuse goes on and on because those who are supposed to protect vulnerable people ALLOW IT. It's utterly staggering and sickening how they work hand in glove with abusers.

This is nothing but stinking corruption. It's on a par with the abuse itself.

And Esther Rantzen as gatekeeper at childline too?

I can't help thinking that with all the scandals and rumours bubbling under the surface - the BBC will totally implode.

when me and my mates were 14, we used to amuse ourselves by drawing comic strips of savile as some nasty cigar chomping cyril sneer-like character who hated kids.

instead of savile we called him saggle, and in one of the comic strips, there was a wheelchair bound boy sat next to a log fire while watching saggle presenting children in need. saggle took a fist full of charity money and said, 'children in need? let them fucking stay in need! hahaha' then he comes out of the telly screen and pushes the disabled boy into the fire.
