Fantastic choice DF, well deserved!

hf

BxMAC, your posts have had me ponder life's choices, laugh, cry and accept that it's not always an easy ride, this road to freedom. But it is most definitely worth taking the journey.

THANK YOU, for all the inspiration BxMAC.
Your humour, insight and sharing has helped me slay my nicotine monster and today, 31 days free, we are never, ever, ever getting back together. I'm freeeeeee......

Just saw your post, DF, after a somewhat lousy day, and was struck with what a nice thought and respite from the angst you've given me, Des. Kind of you. Typically thoughtful, Fox. Thanks, brother.

Canada, the pleasure is mine, but your thoughtful words are very much appreciated and well-taken. I'm fortunate to be getting to know you.

This thread has been a lifesaver for me and I know I would not be smoke-free were it not for the spirit and the people who populate these pages (while we were away this weekend, my wife broke my shoes after I was being a bit testy by saying, "Oh, baby misses his no-smoking pals on GLP."). No doubt.

It has also allowed me to test one of the tenets of the St Francis prayer that states the truism that in the giving we receive. It's true and I have received so much grace over and over here on this thread. I receive so much more than I could ever give. This thread is golden to me.

Best to all.

Good for you Abhie. Keep at it. Your last relapse can be your last relapse.

30 days is a big marker. Just live the day. They stack-up. Neither fast or slow, they just go. In between the fast and slow, the shadow part of days can be a bit dicey, but if you made it to 30 days you can make to 30 years and more.

Keep at it and best to you.

Where ya at, Salt? How's this smoke-free day treating you thus far?

Been re-reading Martin Buber's "I and Thou" on this end. Doesn't have the punch it once held for me. Funny, that. Even Emmet Fox and his take on Sermon on the Mount doesn't push the sway it once did (read it again over the weekend) and I don't know if that's good or bad. Maybe, it's neither good or bad. I feel confident I was one of only a few knuckleheads in an Atlantic City casino hotel with old dog-earred Emmet in me suitcase. That, I'm fairly certain of.

In any event, hope this finds you and yours well, sister.

Morning, Hawk. Crossed the duece, ya did. 61 for you. Who's got it better than you.

Regarding Chip, I heard he had two twins from Brazil, a case of 100-year-old Scotch, and a carton of smokes (as well as a dozen Romeo and Juliet Cuban cigars - fresh off a fishing trawler from Havana) to go through last night.

As soon as he wakes-up (and can walk again), he'll be stopping-by.

I sure hope he can get Willie Nelson out of his living room. Old Willie is great to party with, but he never knows when to leave.

Well Hawko for 21 years I never even tried to "quit". I stopped 3 times because I began to hate it. Longest I went was 6 weeks. But I never declared "I quit"...so I started back up. 2nd time I wanted to see how much money I could save by rolling my own...but never had the time to roll them...that lasted a month. The last time was about a year ago. I got the flu or some shit and smoking hurt so I said fuggit and stopped. Started back up after I got well..like 2 weeks later.

It's time though..I hate everything about it now. The smell, the "can't leave the house without a pack" bullshit....just all of it. It sucks. I'm nobodies bitch...sure as hell not the bitch of a little box of smokes.
