I promised my wife I'd quit on my 40th birthday. 29 days smoke free.

The company of a brother, a bottle of bourbon, and the smokes. Trifecta for a nice afternoon or evening. Hard to resist the stick.

I've stayed away from the booze (family's harder to dodge) and it's helped.

You'll do it, CP. Certain of that.

Haven't given up on this place yet, but also haven't given up smoking yet. My problem came at the weekend, when I was gifted a large 50g pouch of tobacco for free. I accepted it. Feel a bit daft, but they were only being kind and I would have felt bad had I not have taken it. Anyway, I've given most of this pouch away and have day or so left with the tobacco that remains then I'm going to give this another crack.

I believe I can do it, which is the most important thing, as mainly it's ruining my health and happiness, so to continue on as a smoking would just mean me having my head in the sand.

Never give up giving up, is my philosophy. I had to do this with gambling and it worked, so smoking should be doable, perhaps more so and easier.

Ok my lovelies, asking for help here! It's coming up to what would have been my daughters birthday...not coping well, tearful and stressed and could do with a bit of help in dealing with it. I only started smoking again on the day that Sophie died, giving it up for her & my other daughter, finding it hard not to give in! Sorry if I upset anyone.

i have an idea.
instead of moving backward into more self-destructive behaviors to cope with your pain and loss, try something different. let's pave a new pathway in your brain.

whenever your pain begins to feel overwhelming, instead of running to a cigarette, run to a serene place, preferably outside somewhere pretty, and take several deep clean strong breaths, pay homage to your daughter, your relationship you had with her, and to motherhood. raise your arms up to the sky and thank God for your life. make it a tradition.

celebrate anything you can latch onto.
breathe, give homage and honor, then thank God for whatever He is doing for you right in this moment.

I understand what you wrote. The mental beating I give myself when I fall is probably not healthy.
I will admit I feel great when not smoking, I know it is nervous energy but I feel great. I just want to know why someone would smoke in front of me when they know I am struggling?

I don't know what to say to you to ease your pain and loss. But you will be in my thoughts, sending you a hug across the pond.

and here.. don't try to break what is fixed... think of it as running safely in a new car oxoxoxoxo

It's coming up on almost a year now since I quit. I recently had an added benefit I had never even considered remotely possible. There was an age spot on the side of my face I've had for many years. About a half inch diameter. I just rubbed it off! Totally gone now. I couldn't believe it.

in the next few days when i get home, i'm going to put up what my obsticals still seem to be and ask for your thoughts

You are not upsetting anyone dear. That is what we are here for is support. Just trust in yourself, dig deep for strength, and keep giving yourself the gift of life by not smoking. Just take a moment to relax. Think about how you could cause harm to yourself and shorten life. Really think about it. It usually works for me, when I think about it.



Remember, you are worth it!
