Any recommendations on which e-cig or vapor cig is the best? I tried them a few years ago and wasn't impressed. Maybe they have improve since then?
 Quoting: CrossBone

Some where way back in first pages recommended some. I never used one.
 Quoting: Desert Fox

My Mom has been trying to quit too, she has been smoking for over 50 years! I'm so proud of her. She still smokes, but doesn't inhale. To me it seems pointless, but at least she is taking a step!! She has been doing that for a few months now.
For Christmas I am going to buy her a e-cig, but not sure what one. So I will look through the posts and find some. :D
Last night I downloaded subliminal "quit smoking" music. Who knows if it actually works, but why not take a chance, right?
Honestly, this thread is a huge help. Thank you, Desert Fox.

Re: I QUIT SMOKING , YOU CAN TOO. I QUIT SEPT 27, 2012, SUPPORT EACH OTHER HERE
Good Morning - As I write it's Saturday morning. I've set my quit time for Sunday evening. Smoked since I was 13 (back in the day here in the Bronx we'd hustle-up to cigarette machines in bowling alleys, pool halls, slap in the quarters and pull out a pack or we'd get cartons that "fell-off a truck). I've been smoking so long it's part of my breathing mechanism.

In addition to the physical addiction, I find smoking puts up a screen between me and the world and it also provides an emotive pause (if I want to tell someone to take a flying F#ck at a rolling donut, I simply have a smoke and the moment passes) that quells knee-jerk reactions.

Every aspect of my life is touched by smoking. Every activity takes my smoking into consideration. In short, I've become a slave and I choose to break the chains this weekend. That said, the thought of quitting frightens me (you know, give me a rut and I'll furnish it). It frightens me.

I'm grateful you posted this thread and continue to come back to it. Thanks for that. Good luck to all of you and all good things to you.

Hey Mac. Sounds to me like you have given this a lot of thought. Much of what you said sounded just like me.

Quitting smoking seems to be in the air these past couple of months. Me, my son and my sister. None of us knew the others had quit. We just did and you will too.

You will feel so proud of yourself when you are done. Good luck and stand strong.

I quit almost 2 years ago. I smoked for over 30 years and I feel lucky I am still in good health. There is nothing that tobacco offers that is positive, only bad health effects. Whether you smoked of chewed you are an addict. You cannot try one cig or one chew or you are right back to where you quit. My father died of lung cancer and it still took me 15 years to quit myself. If you are thinking about quitting... do it! After 3 days it is all mental. Start a daily log of all the money you are saving. It is pretty amazing, and you will feel so much better! I still have a few drinks and feel so much better in the morning. A huge part of a hangover is the effects of smoking too much!

Don't feel bad Salt, we all slip.

I quit Friday night around 11, Cold turkey, more out of a financial necessity. Been smoking for 13 years, pack a day for 9 or so, and Calculated it's cost me almost 20,000 bucks. With smokes being 10 bucks a pack, the thing that helps most is I saved 20 bucks in the last 2 days.

This thread motivated me too, but I kept forgetting to post when I was nic-fitting fucking fierce earlier.

Thanks for the kind words, Curious, and thanks for the welcome OP. I'm smoking like a chimney in North Jersey this evening in a last harrah. Giving-up an old friend similar to one that sticks a shank in your throat. Went to the store this afternoon and bought cabbage, carrots, kale, cucumbers, ginger, spinach and apples to juice over the next three days to facilitate the detox. Plan on drinking water like a long-journeyed camel.

A buddy once told me you give a trip to Paris, but put down something that wants to hurt you. That said, I'm putting down the smokes at midnight not giving them up.

Finally, to Salt, you're further down the road then I am and no one can take away the time you had recently without the smokes. Like all addictions, it's cunning, baffling and insidious. No shame in slipping and falling. Power come from getting-up and giving it another go.

I can't tell you all what a gift it is to have you here. I've felt somewhat isolated the better part of my life and knowing there are other like-minded and thoughtful people out there is wonderful. Best to you all and away we go.

Very, very good. You will be so happy you quit. We here on this thread will continue to cheer you on. Try putting the cash you would spend each day in a jar. You will be shocked at the money in that jar in a year, or even a month. Strength to you my friend, and I am pretty sure my friend Salt will try again. I didn't make it the first time either.
