Read that shit, it has worked for me and my wife both hardcore smokers..... you can do it, don't get the gum!

I have a very difficult thing with smoking. I quit for 1 year, had stress and was good with myself. But, that ONE time I smoked, I got sick and kept smoking. Cigarettes should be banned before anything else, that is fact!

She is actually doing amazingly well, the Eric Carr book did it for her too :)

For me, and I stress, ME, I have choosen to label nicotine and smoking as dangerous a drug as cocaine or heroin and I don't do those* so why the fuck would I continue to smoke cigarettes. Plus they don't even get ya loaded

You just have to remember that you can't even take one puff as you will INSTANTLY reawaken the addiction and it will be hungry!

I remember Salt what it was like day 3 and 4 and 5. I just kept reading Carr over and over and other non-smoking things. Just to keep my mind in the right place because damn it was hard. Thank heavens for these guys here. They were right there with the right thing at the right time and the right advice too. You're over the worst. You are!

Oh Anon, I agree 100%. Why don't they ban tobacco for heavenssakes!!! Just outright forever!! If we couldn't get it we wouldn't obsess...

Well, in my time zone I have three months under my belt. I can not lie, it has been a struggle, but a struggle I will win. Had some serious stress thingy Christmas and almost went to store for a pack. Back on track now, but I am weak so continue to keep me in your prayers. My biggest fear is that I will cave to stress at some point. Love to all coming to this thread, an so proud of those this thread has inspired to quit. I am also thankful for the cheer leaders that are so faithful in counseling others here. DF

I take the patch off at night and imagine... smoking or putting on that patch is NOT the first thing I think of. I was up for an hour before I suddenly realized I should put on my patch. How can that be?

Please be careful of the patch. It cost me a leg.

It caused atrial fibrillation,(160 heartbeats a min.) which in turn threw clots into the artery going down my leg. Only I didn't know that. It wasn't found for a very long time. Repeated misdiagnosis caused my leg to rot from lack of blood flow, and poof, leg gone. Had they not found it, FINALLY, it would have cost me my life.
It's powerful and in my case, damn near deadly.

Grump - Don't read the patch/lost leg post and worry. Whatever it takes to get a wee bit of distance between you and that toxic stick of poison. If the one legged post jams you up, get some nic gum if you need just to keep putting the distance between you and a smoke.

Conversely, the fugitive post (oh, that was a one armed man and no disrespect meant to the lost leg poster) might be a message just for you to go nic free. Only you know, Grumpy. Trust your instinct (good call on having your husband get rid of the clips, but that only confirms you're on the other side, sister). By any means necessary.

I figure the patch is what is standing between me and smoking and without it I wouldn't have a leg to stand on. Oh Kona, that's a bad joke but i figure you might have a sense of humour about it eh? Because after the worse has happened, what have we got left but laughter?
