day 1 for me. trying to erase thoughts of cigs from my brain.

can't wait to be clean again.

Good luck, I am not going to tell you it is easy. If you have smoked for a long time, and enjoyed as much as I did, It is hard. I am really having trouble keeping my mind off of them. The only thing that seems to work is food, and I don't want to gain weight. I am already starting to bet some belly fat I don't want. Hope you don't have the food cravings like I am having. Good luck.

I haven't smoked in six years but I think I will love a Winston cigarette.
 Quoting: Anonymous Coward 23410679

My father in law quit smoking when he was 29 years old, and in his 60s he still said he knew he would enjoy a cig. Now tell me that there is any other drug with that power.

To be honest. Staying away from cigarettes by force will not work. I've been on many diet phases that come and go because I forced it but my mind does not want to change. Now my brain knows that a diet is normal and it's easier to stay away from junk food. Unfortunately your mind will want to smoke again. You must.

I've given you 2 5 star votes, OP, over the course of this thread. You've done what I've wanted to do and need to do. I've got an e-cig and that worked for a weekend, I need the cajones to keep going.

Just vape all day long
I did for the first two weeks, constantly blowing steam
but still regaining my lungs
Throw away all tobacco and get your nicotine from
the smoke free vapor
it will work but you will have to vape a lot the first couple days or weeks, and its fun and you wont smell bad
just dump the tobacco and commit to total electronic nicotine delivery
it will work and i have smoked and quit may times
vaping is the easiest way for me to stay off tobacco

I took a few puffs off one my friend had bought, and it was like sucking on a ceramic stick. I really didn't see how it would help me. But maybe The mint flavored would at least have a taste that would distract from the cigarette craving.

Smoked for years and years and it was having bad effects on my breathing so trying to quit. Took Chantix for nine days, then said to hell with meds, and going it alone. Haven,t had a Marlboro for over two weeks, how -ever I do get the urge several times a day, but the urge is getting farther apart and easier to get past. Wish me luck.
 Quoting: Desert Fox

You're a better man than me. I went to basic training in 2009, and we weren't allowed to smoke for 6 weeks. So I forcibly had to quit. After that six weeks, I'll tell you, the first thing I did after going on liberty...
Albeit, I had no desire to quit at the time.

Maaaaaaaaaaannnnnnn, good for you. It's so stinkin' hard to quit! I've quit 4 or 5 different times but I have never made it past 3 months. As of now I don't smoke on the weekends or nights when I am around my family. It's hard for me to give up because I find smoking to be extremely relaxing. I completely hear you on that...

I am sure you know since you have quit b4, that you can't slip up. Best of luck to you!

Oh, look into flavored tooth picks. Also those little disposable Crest or Total tooth brushes/picks also work well.

Quit as soon as you can, after basic training was when I was in peak health and condition. Then years of smoking have taken a toll on my lung capacity so now if I try to run I gasp for breath. Stop now if you can. Good luck man, and thanks for serving.

It's a little different than smoking. The nic takes a little longer to kick because it's not ignited, it's in a water vapor. The problem with analogs is the ammonia they treat it with causes a freebasing effect of the nic and makes you like a crack head.

Also tobacco has MAO-I's which are like antidepressants.
