Re: I QUIT SMOKING , YOU CAN TOO. I QUIT SEPT 27, 2012, SUPPORT EACH OTHER HERE
Just checking in...

I had a super messy meltdown this morning.

It (ohno) was u-g-l-y!

Thank God I have someone who loves me who knew that this kinda ugly was not who I usually am and was able to just grab me and hold me until I surrendered and began to have a good cry at my frustration around what was going on.

My work involves property management and I have a client that is high maintenance...kinda like wanting to be dug out already before 24 hours have passed with the Blizzard of 2013, 27 inches of snow on the ground and complaining....when I am completely powerless over the plowing situation.

It is difficult for me with this client because they are super demanding and want everything in that moment. This week is something new. If given the time to contemplate the solution, I can come up with one where everyone comes out feeling like a winner.

The intensity of the tone of demanding and the unrealistic expectations left me strung out emotionally this morning after dealing with the issues for about 6 hours yesterday. When a new issue with the same person came up this morning...ooooh, it was as Mrs. G of New Orleans would say, "MESSY".

huffyblackeyehuffyohnoverysad

Here's the most important thing - I really wanted to smoke, oh yeah, it would have been a real doozy to sit there with a cig and think about all my resentments and justify my meltdown, ad nauseum.

I didn't fall into the trap... I didn't smoke, got about 48-49 days, just for today.

Thanks for listening...

Good to see you again, Salt. You were missed. Edging ever-closer toward two months for you. Read your limitless post this morning. As always, interesting and good, good stuff. That I look like Bradley Cooper was the icing (I'm just saying). Nice to have you here again.

Marsute, welcome. We're all pulling for you. You can do this.

OneLove. So glad you didn't smoke. If possible, try not to let that demanding tyrant live rent free in your head. I do know that whackos fade away and it is hoped that this demanding plow-fixated-patron will be transferred or reassigned in the near future.

Either way, a big win for you today. You did not waiver in your resolve to remain free from chemicals created to destroy you. You've worked so hard and taken such great care of yourself. Today, the fruits of your continued labor of love were not in vain. Proud of, and delighted for, you. Hooray!

CHL and Des - Constant Gardeners.

Hawk - Each day another victory. I admire the way you extend yourself to the newcomers here. I can see many are going to benefit from you being smoke-free. It's a pleasure to read you each day.

For me, went to Chinese New Year celebration yesterday afternoon downtown Chinatown. Great, but cold, day. I must say the Chinese do like to smoke (a generalization, but my experience and heightened yesterday). Outside every store, on every corner, and even pulling the 20 foot paper dragons, people were smoking like mad men. Unfortunatley, I don't and didn't find the smell of cigarettes offensive and I did have a few, albeit fleeting, moments of longing for the smokes. The people smoking looked like they savored every pull (of course, I was watching like a peeping tom pervert outside a lamp-lit bedroom window). Thankfully, the longings passed as they always do. I guess it's ok to have the desire from time to time as long as we don't act on them.

I never want to quit again. It's a gift and grace to be free. Living the dream.

Best to all.

Great job Hawk! I'm still vaping E-cigs. I haven't smoked a real cigarette since June of 2012. Now I can't stand the smell of cigarettes. I smoked for 25 years too.

Keep it up! hf

Edit: Just added this thread to my personal pins as well to help me too. Thanks Desert Fox!

littlemiracles - You're down to three cigarettes a day! That's huge. Congratulations. Man, you said you were going to do it with that last pack and you're doing it. Wow. A lot to be proud of on day five.

I smoked about two packs a day for years. When I put them down this down, I wore the patch for a couple of days to get some time between me and the last smoke. It worked for me and bought me some time. When I was ready, I went all out nic-free and never looked back. You'll know when it's time, and it seems like you put thought into this. I'm confident this is your time to quit for good. You'll never have to do this again.

Glad the e-cigs are working. Soon, the ultra-lights will be but a memory of the chains that once bound us. Keep plugging-away. You're doing it.

79 for me today, Hawk.

Still can't fully believe it. Never thought I had the stuff to quit and almost resigned myself to being a smoker until I packed it in (and believed that would be the cause, or related to the cause, of my death).

I'm so fucking grateful to be free of the toxic sticks. They were a part of every aspect of my life and now they've been banished. Poof. Gone. Bye. What a gift.

sounds like a pretty good start, but from what i/ have witnessed most people who do the Ecig thing, end right back to smoking traditional cigs. But best of luck to you..

Just dropping in to get my "I quit smoking" fix! Not staying long because being on the computer brings out the awful urge to smoke! I hope that gets better as time goes on. So far though....still smoke free...about 24 hours now and it's not too bad!

Ekkol and Marsute - Wow. You are both to be admired. Congratulations!

24 hours and you never looked back, Marsute. What a powerful example you are. Cold turkey and free. Keep going (and certainly understand about the smokes and the computer) and do whatever necessary to take care of yourself.

Ekkol, Two weeks! You're doing it. That snow is falling in your honor today. Each flake is uniquely formed in celebration of your freedom. All part of the one and you are truly free. Keep going. You've got this.

Best to you both.

Anon UK you have every right to be chuffed to bits. You are accomplishing something huge. I don't believe you're cheating at all with the e-cigs. Whatever means necessary to get you away from the killer chemicals in commercial cigarettes. Every day you don't smoke cigarettes, brings you closer to absolute freedom. You have much to be proud of. Congratulations.
