85 days for this guy today!

Still struggling with the weed though, someday perhaps I'll be able to say "later" to it alltogether but for now, cutting back in a real way has been very beneficial for me....

I had been having 3-4 cigarettes a day but quit smoking yesterday. I have quit smoking before in my past and usually do not struggle with it much in terms of withdrawal or physical discomfort. I know 3-4 cigs isn't much compared to what some people smoke.

This is a good/positive thread for people to find support for kicking this unhealthy habit. Kudos to all who have quit or are working on doing so.

I'm taking a break from that as well... In fact it was the only reason why I smoked cigs as I really don't enjoy them otherwise. I'm tired of paying top dollar for inferior product as well as the inconvenience of trying to obtain it.... If I lived in WA, CA, or CO I would be a regular smoker of some indica strains but unfortunately that's not the reality of my circumstances....

I know it's only been 10 days or so but what types of differences/changes have you observed since you quit toking? I have been a regular smoker for many years now but never in excess, maybe a bowl a day at most. I have seen some other discussions on this on GLP and observed people reporting increased energy and more vivid dreams (as well as a greater ability to recall their dreams). Noticed anything in your 12 days of cannabis sobriety?

I have always remembered all my dreams every night (I'm one of those people)

Lack of motivation
I'm always bored
Diarhea
Sweaty hands and feet
little to no appetite
dehydration
anxiety

to be honest..... it fucking sucks

when I was still puffing I barely thought about drinking.... now that I dont puff I think about drinking alot more...... starting smoking again has crossed my mind a dozen times....

I just keep telling myself "you can do this" and it eventually goes away....

when I quit drinking I also started working out.....I bought an X-Factor (one of those things you hook up to a door) and whenever I think about fucking up I just do some reps to take my mind off of the bull shit...

I will smoke herb again, I'm sure.....but the breaks I'm taking in between sessions are getting longer and longer.....

So eventually (in theory) I will quit within time.... when I'm ready, I guess...just like I did with Beer and Cigarettes....

lol

I remember reading a post of yours the other night and seeing you using a Chuck Norris smiley as well as your Chuck Norris avatar. I thought for a minute how funny it would be if you were actually Chuck Norris and just so enfatuated with yourself that you used your own photo as your avatar as well as smileys of your own likeness, haha....

Thanks for the feedback. I usually only recall a few brief moments from my dreams.... Hoping to have better dream recall in the coming days/weeks....

you can't get around anxiety.
the only cure for anxiety is to go thru it.

in other words, recognize it for what it is, go with it, feel it, let it pass

do that over and over until anxiety dissipates on its own

until then, it will keep nagging and returning and hounding

the only way out is thru

yes!

the mind is strange when dealing with thoughts.
when one has an anxious thought, it is impossible to try and not think the thought. when one tries to not think something specific or non-specific, the mind will blare that particular thought on loudspeaker. for example, "do not think of pink elephants swinging from jungle vines in a pink tutu"

immediately the mind creates a visual

the idea is to take the anxious thoughts/feelings and use your inner man to observe them objectively. everyone has the inner man. this is the part of us that is always in check. when our emotions or thoughts are doing one thing, the inner man is the voice that keeps us in check.

when the anxiety emerges, the inner man needs to observe it as if it is standing in the same room (which it is) and watching it from a close proximity. we don't push anxiety away or try to force it to stop. we simply observe it, silently, and be careful to not apply any attachment to it.

it is tricking the mind. well, scratch that. it is utilizing the mind properly while it tries to trick the inner man.

make sense?
