Each time we hit a milestone of cleaning our blood and body this is what is going on at the cellular level:

Body Regeneration Schedule

Medical Doctors have observed, and published, how long it takes a healthy body to "Regenerate" or "Grow" - NEW Cells, Organs, Skin, Hair, etc.

I taught and practices as a certified holistic practitioner for many years.

I stopped practicing and teaching 8 years ago to dedicate my time to my spiritual work as a spiritual teacher and healer.

I like to share tidbits now and then when I feel it might be helpful...

Please if anyone would like to take this idea and start a thread - I do not own the idea...

I am just starting an intense detox for my kidneys, liver, and colon so I am going to be a bit under the weather as I detox and not able to commit to much (other than the loo! ohno)

Haha, I quit 3 days ago after clinging to the habit for 40 years. I'm so glad I found this thread and your post. It's been a semi-rough few days. So far, I'm choosing not to give in to the constant urge to light up, knowing I'll feel that overwhelming guilt of another failure if I do. I want this time to be the last time I ever "quit"!

Congratulations to everyone who has made the choice to be a non-smoker!

I keep saying out loud to no one in particular, "No thanks, I don't smoke." Just to convince myself I really mean it. It makes me laugh when I hear myself say it.

If I may... the circle is 'little' only because we need more people like yourself to join in and share your experiences....

(And because we lost Grumps verysad )

Truly, it is through my making an effort to share as much as possible, even if it is just emoticons when it is really rough, that has made such a significant difference in my quitting.

I look forward each day to reading others posts and how they are doing, it uplifts me greatly and inspires me.

Today is my quit day.

Started zyban one week ago and am really looking forward to being free from being a slave to that disgusting habit.

I have smoked for over 30 years and the toll it is taking on my life is so high, I can't believe I am still paying to kill myself.

This thread helped inspire me to quit, now I just have to maintain enough willpower to butt out for good.

Thanks for starting the thread DF, wish me luck on my journey to becoming smoke free.

Thanks for the encouragement.

Am reading the books DF recommended now.

First time I have been proud to quit anything.
Can't wait till I can breathe again without coughing my brains out.

Why o why did I ever start this horrible habit.

What I am singing to myself today whenever I get a craving.
First time in 30 years I have not smoked a cigarette as soon as I got up. My new theme song.

Do you realize what it means to the quitters on this thread to see a new person show up and say they are quitting? It means a lot, because each and every one knows what you are going to go thru. They also know the great benefits you are going to gain. That is why they will jump in with both feet to applaud you and give advice, support, and share experiences with you. As Moderator of this thread, I welcome you to the most helpful thread on GLP, and I wish you extreme power to succeed. Come here every day, you will need others to rant on and feel their love. hf DF

Hi everyone, I was surfing the web for inspiration (and checking out e-cigs to determine whether or not they are a viable help tool for getting off the regular smoking habit) and found this resource at Discovery Health.

[link to health.howstuffworks.com]

It seems that some med-types have seen group quitting as more effective than for those who go it alone!
