It really takes a lot longer than 3 days to truly get over them physically. Three days and I was home free, too. But, surely it's not the same for everyone. I hear ya. My mom quit over 30 years ago and never looked back. She quit with no problem. For me it doesn't really get bad until after 3 days. I quit over a month ago, and I still crave, but it's getting better. Keeping the stress level low helps. |

Stay with it this time if at all possible, stress will kill you, but so will tobacco, and maybe quicker. Best of luck to you. :TOMABANEFOX: It's more humane this way ya know, or burn on totem pole. JanJan User ID: 8542752 United States 10/17/2012 03:54 PM Report Abusive Post Report Copyright Violation | Desert - this post is like a shot in the arm. My kids are begging me to quit. Quit for 8 yrs. and went back (what an asshole I was) and now I really must. Am afraid my health is going, and will go down the shitter if I don't. There should be some sort of permanent post for those of us who are trying to quit Your post has given me the courage to quit again. And, you are absolutely right - it is the most addictive drug going. After 8 yrs, one cig had me going again. Will start tomorrow a.m. That means: no more morning coffee, alcohol, and a few other things. After meals is a big one for me too. I don't know how I'll drive w/o smoking! Used it as an excuse to stay awake. I admire you man. Keep up the amazing work!!! |

Good luck my friend, I check this thread every day, so keep me posted. Thanks. :TOMABANEFOX: It's more humane this way ya know, or burn on totem pole. Choice is yours. |

abitaskew User ID: 21487069 United States 10/20/2012 07:33 PM Report Abusive Post Report Copyright Violation | I'm quitting today after a decade of smoking. I quit a month ago for two weeks until I got some bad news and went back. It doesn't help if you've got friends around who keep reemphasizing that they can tell I want to smoke. For the beginning I'm going to lock myself in my house with minimal human interaction. It seemed to work last time. heh Everytime I drink soda-pop or coffee I think about having another smoke. I found it more easy if I empty my entire environment of tobacco, including cigarette butts & ash. Good luck to us all. =] abitaskew 0110 |

Some people turn their noIse up at this. I see it as if it keeps me from lighting up a cigarette ever again, I'll chew that gum from time to time for the rest of my life. |
Desert Fox (OP) User ID: 8786935 United States 10/20/2012 07:41 PM Report Abusive Post Report Copyright Violation | Great job to anyone quitting, I smoked for 25 yrs at 2 to 3 packs a day. Hated being controlled by something. I used the patch, and it helped the physical addiction. after the nicotine is out of the body then you deal with the mental addiction. I still went to bars and was still around smokers. It made me even stronger being around them, I knew I had so much more will power and cared about my health more than they did. I know im much better off without it but still its hard. I guess that's why they call it an addiction. They say it hijacks part of the brain making you think you NEED it. Well its true Good luck my friend Last Edited by Philligan on 10/20/2012 07:48 PM Pray for Us Sinners Now and at the Hour of our Death |
