im on attempt #4039 1 day in lol, the only reason i can't seem to quit is cause I drink everyday and they kinda go hand in hand for me. but... last year I managed to quit for 6 months with this book. [link to www.theeasywaytostopsmoking.com]

Same here... day 2 of quitting drinking as well.

There is no way I can even sip a beer in the foreseeable future. I screwed up a 3 week quit a few years ago on NYE. Made it through Christmas stress with no dip, then gave it up after drinking at a NYE party.

I'm going to have to give up-
drinking
eating
sex
waking up
driving
glp (hopefully not)

and pretty much anything else remotely fun for awhile!!

Re: I QUIT SMOKING , YOU CAN TOO. I QUIT SEPT 27, 2012, SUPPORT EACH OTHER HERE
I've stopped for 2 weeks.

I have had another 3 attempts this year, my longest being 6 weeks. However, that did not include when I was drinking!! Out of the 6 weeks I probably had about 4 nights out drinking and smoked each time. I thought this was ok and i told myself that i will only smoke when i am drinking which sounded like a good idea. However, i seems it is not a good idea as it is easier to start again, which i did.

This time is different, i'm sure. I went out drinking last Friday (over a gallon of beer) and never had one cigarette. I was tempted a few times but there was something in my head that said i don't need it and i felt stronger for not doing it.

I think i mean it this time. I have also taken up running again and i am eating better so i think its my whole life package thats changing and i am becoming mentally stronger.

I think you have to want to stop. This time i think i really DO want to stop. My mindset has changed, for now.

Good luck to all.

I smoked from 13 till I was 38, I was at some friends house one night and my buddies wife said hey do you hear yourself weezing? At the moment I didn't but thereafter for a couple of months I did. It really scared me. I knew I had lost the bulletproof teenage feeling for sure. So I quit on my birthday and that was a year and 3 months ago. It is hard and I had tried unsuccessfully many times but that weezing I heard every time I got in bed told me I had to do it. It sure feels nice not to lose my breath from a flight of stairs. Food doesn't taste any better from all the stories I was told but I am glad I stopped. All the best to you all. And when you do quit you will realize how nasty you used to smell. poop

Soon you find a beer in your hand only needs one other companion, it's not a smoke but another beer. It wasn't too difficult to separate the two, just keep your focus. It is easy to have distractions and excuses why you can't quit. Find ways to show yourself you can. After a beer I always say that it taste like another, so I do.

Well before I started drinking beer on the daily I didn't find it too difficult to stop smoking (lasted 6 months) but now taking into account the daily drinking I find it much harder to stop.

Thanks again for the advice though cheers and +1
