It is liberation NOT punishment.
Quote for the day: "It can be done" -- Desert Fox :)
I was just reading as ever about this quitting stuff. It ONLY just dawned on me. We all say "we're addicts" but it never REALLY dawned on me. I'm an addict. This is not small fry stuff. This is real. Smoking was socially acceptable for such a large part of my life and now it isn't. Now we get to see what we really are. We are the "cocaine/heroin/bathsalt" addicts types now. We are mucking about in the gutters of addiction, full of horrible filthy life compromises and waste. We can never take another puff. We are addicts. Jesus. Why is this only dawning on me now?
Everybody looking at us who doesn't smoke knows what we are but we don't. Didn't. God. I used to feel such pity and sometimes scorn for drug addicts. How hypocritical of me... This is why we need to have compassion for ourselves. I'm starting to learn...
Jeez, it sure is easy to swim in the river of Denial eh?
Imagine breathing through a straw. Then the straw gets smaller. That's emphysema. That's real. It ain't maybe down the road. It's down the road waiting... why would you think you're the only one who can escape it?
Stay strong everyone. Our lives depend on it.
Love you all.
Quoting: Grumpyface 30606561 I certainly cannot add to this comment. You nailed it. I have Emphysema in progress already, and if you are a smoker you will get it, period. I will never have my healthy lungs back, but I am breathing so much better now. Again, Grumpy, what a wonderful post. Thank you. DF Quoting: Desert Fox wow, DF... i will do healing prayers for your lungs, bro.
