I had to go and count now CHL, so it's 49 days for me today. :)

How are they going to determine who is a smoker for this regulation they want to pass? A person could just say I'm not a smoker no?

Anyway, we don't need to worry about it do we? Because we are the champions my friend...

Now its about staying quit. Staying quit is the hardest part. I think I really "do" know now I can't have another puff. It's only logical.

Day 20

Quit nearly 3 months ago now and I'm feeling great after 10 years of smoking. This is the second time that I've quit (the first being 8 months), but I'm determined to have this be the last time I do so since smoking and my career choice really don't blend well together. It really is much easier to quit cold turkey even though it sucks for the first couple weeks. Just stay determined and resist any urge to go and buy a pack and you'll be set.

You know... that's true Mac, other than the fish thing, there are few of these newcomers complaining like we did... where are all the complaints? The inability to think our way out of a paper bag, the weeping, wailing, screeching, fighting and pure misery? They are far too stoic... :)

Actually, they're just more growed up than us maybe...

I'm fixating myself on staying quit. It is the hardest part, after the initial part of course. Just yesterday I was thinking that I could bum one from a friend today if I wanted because I've quit and since I've quit I am no longer under the same rules.... it is SO WEIRD how the mind can convince us of anything. Even after 50 days. Not one puff woman I say to myself everyday now... everyday...

How is everyone else's crankiness proceeding? Still cranky? Happy? Grouchy? Serene?

CHL, I think there is something to this thread. A strange assortment of people who probably only have this smoking thing in common at the end of the day who all are succeeding...

I think DF has created some kind of witchery with this thread. Maybe its like a Twilight Zone episode... we can never leave this thread because we would go back to that horrifying world of buying expensive little cancer sticks again and again and again....

Almost a month for me. But I'm not as good or strong as some of the posters who went cold turkey, I am using e-cigs. After 25 years of a pack a day, e cigs are really helping.

Yeah, hear you, Grumps. We were, and I hope we will continue to be, some whinging bastards when the emotional weather report required. "By whatever means necessary" to bring the chickens home to roost. That said, I wish a long, smooth, quit to all on our road.

And, yes, we're never leaving this thread. At some point each day, I am hit with the reality that I no longer smoke. And each day I am amazed at this fact. A believer in stacking the deck, counting the cards, and playing the odds, I know how crucial this joint has been to my success. I'm not stepping away from the DF table and having my luck change. On a roll, Mama!

Down the road I hope to be checking-in with a count of "33,323 days today, gang!" (may this day a tree be planted in our honor and used a hundred years from now for our coffins).

Anon 452 - 25 years of smoking and almost a month clean! I'd say that's strong as hell. Congratulations.

E-cig, patch, gum, sewn lips, hooked hands, whatever it takes to get away from the toxic stick of poison. No right or wrong. Whatever works.

Big accomplishment for you and one to be very proud of. Please don't diminish it by infering it's somewhat less because you didn't go "cold turkey." You're way ahead of the game and certainly free from the cigarettes. Very happy for you.
