In hopes to provide some inspiration, after having smoked for 25 years, tomorrow at midnight will be 3 weeks with absolutely no nicotine. Fucking, fuck yeah!!! Urges pass quickly, I feel so much better, I smell so much better, my bank account thanks me, my young kids are forgetting daddy ever smoked, blood pressure down. I no longer feel like I have a void in my life or like I broke up with my best friend. Life is better without the cigarettes. Health is now my best friend. For those of you reading this thread and considering quitting, If you have some time off from work around the holidays, that is a great opportunity. The first 3 days are a real bitch so if you can stock up on easily prepared food and drink and stay home, chances of success may increase. This is how I quit right after thanksgiving. So good to see alot of familiar names still around and the success is stunning. Also very good to see the quit links pushed now and again; very valuable tools imo. I've been quit for about 70 days or so. My ipad app tells me I havn't smoked over 1,000 cigs now; unbelievable. On one hand its hard to believe my wife and I have made it this far. On the other, it actually just feels normal now. Congrats to all who are winning the fight. For the early quitters or the ones getting ready, read the quit links and take one day at a time. That one day will turn into 7, then 30, then 60. You will have not smoked 1 cig, then a pack, then a carton, then a-fucking 1,000! We all can do this. RicRoc |

Had my first smoking dream - it was a helpful experience because in the dream I had a smoke, - and then I woke up and the reality was I was still a non-smoker!!! I feel the dream was a psychological release - where in another reality, I got to smoke and I did, and healed within my psyche the pressure and desire around wanting to smoke without actually lighting up in reality. I do not know if this makes sense at all - when I stopped drinking 25 years ago I would have dreams about drinking and be filled with guilt and shame for having such dreams. Now I know, that for me, it was a sign of my psyche healing to have dreams such as these, because in the end - when I am awake and conscious - I choose not to use and abuse my self. My pain is gone for now, but have appointments in future to investigate a growth of some kind on the right kidney. Maybe I will be fixed sooner or later. You are doing great love, keep it up. The urge to smoke will pass whether you smoke or not. The urge will pass. So don't smoke. If you can get out for lunch, pick-up some cranberry juice (I know, it sounds crazy). It works and fights the cravings like a bastard (aids in the blood sugar drops in nicotine detox - but I just play a doctor on tv). Each time you have an urge, take a huge slug of the cranberry juice. Smooths out the crank and irritability as well. These next few days are goig to pass. Blips on the radar screen. Ride 'er out, Hawk and you'll soon be on your way to a new freedom. You can do this. Congratulations on your major, major, accomplishment of four days. Huge, Hawk! |
