Dicey on this end the last few days. Don't want to smoke, but discontent. Chip on my shoulder (although that seems to be permanently placed it just varies in size from day to day).

I'm doing good. I guess I have those days when I want to throw in the towel but I try and remind myself that I can't go back to snitching butts from flower pots... how sick was that? lol

I await the snowstorm. Must go out and get a few things before it hits. What a fun winter!

Sooo.... i went to the doctors today because of Swollen Lymph Nodes on the right hand side of my throat..(That i have had for 4 weeks)

Doctor asked if i was a smoker.....i tell her i had quit smoking on the 3rd or 4th of January, and have only smoked 2 cigarettes since then...

Doc then tells me..

Not smoking has increased the white blood cells and aggravated my lymph nodes causing the swelling.......Great..!!

Now got a prescription of Antibiotics and another appointment to see my Doctor in 2 weeks....

Hope this shit in my throat fucks off, because i can also feel it in my right ear....pain in the Ass...!

This shall pass and fixable, damage from smoking will kill. So which is best? DF

I would rather have a temporary problem now Than an incurable one further down the road....Thats for sure.

non- smoking wins every time...

Good to see you, Jasper. Pain in the ass, but good that you went to the Dr. to get checked. Seems like part of the detox and nothing serious (other than, again, being a pain in the ass). Sorry you have to deal with it.

I've had a f-ing cough since December 22. Just can't shake it. I've resigned myself to accepting it as part of the detox. I guess you can't smoke 40 years and expect to put the smokes down, rub your hands together, and then state, 'ok, that's done and in the past.' I don't feel the cough is anything major, but I've been doing the next right thing (home remidies, Dr. appointment next week, and not smoking). I do have to say there have been times I've said, "Fuck, I didn't have a cough like this when I was smoking.." as a potential gateway to picking-up a stick. The addiction will use any means necessary.

CHL went to DR and found all was well, you and I will find the same, Jasper.
Just our amazing bodies doing what needs to be done to heal.

Yep got a cough as well,(never had a cough before quiting the smokes) Constantly feels like i need to clear my throat.
i think its a combination of my lungs clearing and the Lymph Node problem...

It'll pass....i'm sure.

Whoa, OneLove - Just read you on the Luisport (I I like that guy......he called Sandy weeks ahead of the curve and I believe he generously provides a great service re weather) thread and believe you're in CT. Not certain which part of CT you're in - I drove to Stamford Sunday afternoon and it was like an afternoon stroll - but if you're close to the City (I'm in the Bronx around 231 and Bdway) it would be a real pleasure to get together sometime down the road in either the City or CT.

We live in Northern CT - by the woods, wild turkeys, deer and bobcat. Saw two different wolves recently and even some coyote just out the kitchen window.

Thank you for the invite - but my nerves can't handle the energies of the NYC/Bronx. Got a close rasta bredren that lives down there and can't even visit him. You can let me know if your ever in Hartford (closest city) and I could drive down to meet ya.

I'm looking forward to this storm, everyone is taken care of, my snow plow team is the best, the firewood is stacked and ready and the view of nature during a storm around here is phenomenal.

I am, after a difficult life, so very blessed.

(Which is why I am often so honest, so those who are suffering now, might have some hope and inspiration that they too will come out on the other side).

On another note, I was struck on the Luisport weather thread how many people took the general information about the storm and winnowed it down to their own specific concerns:

"I'm traveling to VT, should I go? "I'm going to LI should I...?" I'm in VA will we get hit?" On and on. Sheesh, just take the information and do the rest.

In a bid to highlight the trend, I wrote,

"I'm going to a dinner party at the Donner's home Friday evening. Ah, the Donner party. Can't wait. I sure hope the upcoming weather doesn't influence the menu selection."

Still here and still not smoking, just been busy with serious cleaning and readying of grammas house to be sold as well as having an estate sale over there. Also cleaning my own house of excess clutter and accumulated junk to be sold at the estate sale.

Tomorrow I'm getting my man cave carpet cleaned and mayhap paint it if I can scare up some paint. As I said long ago, my smeller is working great and what I'm smelling up here aint all that pleasant!

Still laying way back on the weed and that is really big for me as I am/ was an all day every day type smoker.

I too have the morning cough thing going on although it's not constant and is really nothing more than a tickle that needs to be coughed out.

Just today upon lifting the couch to vacuum, I found a single, unbroken death stick that I'm gonna keep as sort of a reminder. Make sense? prolly not but I'm like that....

CHL, you know... I don't think I would have been that strong if I'd come across a single deathstick like that by myself. I'm okay now with others smoking but haven't faced the "me myself and the cancerstick alone together" thing yet... You done good my friend. :)
