Quoting: Salt i have washed everything 4 times and there still is smell of smoke, but it is receding some. i bought some of that special spray for smoke smell. it helped break it down some. so daily i spray everything down with the spray and then re-wash it. even the towels in my upstairs closet still reek of smoke, and they are washed every few days. driving me cray-cray Salt, best bet is baking soda. Try it on your towels first if you want. DF :TOMABANEFOX: It's more humane this way ya know, or burn on totem pole. Choice is yours. |

BxMac User ID: 18472095 United States 03/06/2013 02:25 PM Report Abusive Post Report Copyright Violation | Jasper! Good to see you. Congratulations on your two months. Happy for you. There's a room in my home where I would wolf-down a smoke from time to time when the family was sleeping upstairs. Since putting down the smokes, I've thought of painting. When this thought comes to me, I recall your delight at painting a room clean after you quit the smokes. So, not only do I have the good fortune of knowing you these past two months, but I also get a good slap of motivation to paint. In boths cases, I win. Thanks for that. Great to see you again, Jasper. Smoking's bad, mmkay |

If I recall correctly, you're either standing on the verge of, or firmly planted on, Day 90 today. Yahoo! Day 90 for you Brother CHL. Congratulations. The case quarter of a Year. Did it. Doing it. It's been a pleasure to count the days with you. A true honor. Now to 91. |

Planned to stop on the 4th of January, my birthday, but dragged it out until the 14th. I had a TIA (kid of stoke) and ended up in the ER. That motivated me to quit!! Past the five month mark for you and rolling into half a year. Fantastic accomplishment. Wanted to take a moment to thank you for your kind words the other day. I was feeling a bit raw that day and your thoughts helped me immensely. Thanks, Des. Hope this finds you and your family well. Best, brother. |
Anonymous Coward User ID: 628775 Canada 03/06/2013 04:11 PM Report Abusive Post Report Copyright Violation | Today has been a heavy number crunching day for me. Needless to say, that creates a huge craving for a cig, as I always used to go for a smoke to think when I had a problem. For some reason, I had it in my head that having a smoke would bring me clarity of mind, and sometimes it did. I am having to fight off the automatic reflex to go have a cig right now. Acckkk...I figured day 4 would be a cakewalk, guess not. Please tell me it will get easier. |

BxMac User ID: 18472095 United States 03/06/2013 04:41 PM Report Abusive Post Report Copyright Violation | Clarity returns better than ever. And despite studies indicating nicotine stimulates brain for greater clarity, memory, and the like, remember many of these studies are funded by RJ Reynolds and other big tobacco interests. Don't believe the hype. Fight the Power! And, for the sake of argument, let's say you stay a step slower for a month or two (but you will not), I'd rather have a little fog than great clarity when some hairy-knuckled clinician is jamming tubes down my throat as part of the delightful ritual of healing my throat or lungs of cancer. Fuck that. I'd rather be drooling in the corner wearing SpongeBob pajamas with footies as a happy, smoke-free, idiot (oh, shit, I was just looking in the mirror) than arrive at where continued nicotine induced clarity will take me. Even if your ass falls off, don't pick-up a smoke today. You're over the hump and sailing toward the ribbon. Don't give-up five minutes before the miracle sets you fully free. Remember your realization of the whole rebel/slave thing ("Rebel, Rebel, you've torn your......") and how you chose freedom. Take the freedom instead of chains Crunching numbers? We don't need no stinkin' numbers! Your number is four days today. And that, my friend, is Huge. |

The TIA - "kid of stroke" sounds as much fun as Son of Sam - must have been a jarring wake-up call. So happy you're ok and dodged that big bullet. Cigarettes will never take us anywhere good in the long run. Great congratulations on being smoke-free since January 14. A new year and new life for you. |

I did not have a smoke, I crushed that little devil. I do choose freedom, not slavery. I watched the guy across the street standing outside sucking back a smoke and just watching him made my lungs hurt, no joke. I'm determined to be a quitter. Can't believe I already saved 48 bucks. Tomorrow will be day 5. Longest I have gone in over 30 years without a smoke. Thanks guys!! |
