One day at a time.

Really stressful day for me today, 11 days into my quit.



First time since choosing to become smoke free that the craving for a cig just about did me in.

I went to the dentist, a new dentist due to an infection that arose out of a root canal and cap I had done within the last year. It was at the root of the root, the pain and infection radiated down instead of up. I was worried it would go to my heart.

The $3000 I invested in saving that f*cking tooth was down the drain. It should never have been saved and I should have just gotten the implant for that price instead. I knew that but let the dentist convince me otherwise.

Believe it or not, I was sitting in my car after the extraction seriously thinking of having a cigarette.
WTF, I just had a tooth extracted and I wanted a cigarette?
I realize now how I depended on it as my crutch when confronted with stress inducing situations and just how crazy it really was.

Then I thought,

how could i explain a relapse on the forum
They have cheered me on and so far I have been winning.

So, I chose not to give in to the craving.

I can and did just say no.



Thanks for all the support guys, I am and continue to be a non smoker.

Thanks to this thread and the links in it, I credit you with my giving me the inspiration to quit smoking after 38 years.

Every single time they tried to quit. Eventually each quitting experience brings new insights until the day you finally do it.

Yup, feeling pretty good about myself, 10 days now smoke free, I drank last weekend and managed not to smoke.
Graet feeling, turning down cigs at a party and all.

Kicking it! Day 39 for me...this is it. Do not like how I feel when I smoked. Stsrting to feel really good! And saving MONEY!

I wish it was my 39th day for me, I gotta a long way to go.

Great to see you Patagonia. Day 11 for you is exactly where you should be. It is perfection. You would not be doing 11 perfectly without having done the days before perfectly. And if all you accomplished on these days was not sticking a toxic stick in your mouth and abstaining from the smokes, you lived the day perfectly. You are right where you should be and I am so, so, happy for you.

Also, Congrats on your countryman as the new Pope. I would love to see him have the poor, destitute, and marginalized of Rome brought to him on Good Friday and have him wash their feet. Afterward, this group of souls could be fed the best foods within Vatican and then given well-attired rooms to take their rest. That would give evidence that some smoke mattered (albeit from a chimney in Rome).

We hope for the best. In all things.

Congratulations, Canada on Day 12 Today! So very happy you rode-out that urge after the dentist. Those are the big league curveballs thrown at us from time to time. You hit it out of the park. A homerun of a day and much to be proud of. I hope you've given yourself a big "well done." So happy for you.

Patagoinia and Canada. Both end in "A" and well on their way..... to infinite possibilities and vistas only hoped for in days past.

Only had fleeting thoughts of smoking, easily dismissed.



Thanks for listening to my rant yesterday, tough one, it helps to let it out, and the support goes a long way in keeping me smoke free.



Note:
Spend time daily reflecting on the benefits I have already reaped since becoming a quitter.

Love breathing, somehow it just fills you with life.



Results of experiment started when I quit: I put the equal # of qtips in a bag that I would smoke each day.

Today there are 240 qtips in that bag. Whattt.....240????
At first the growing # of qtips in the bag was unbelievable, now it's just hysterically funny, absurd.
I mean, I don't do anything else that many times a day, except maybe breathe, blink and refresh GLP.




Note to self:
-Get a grip, 240 toxic sticks in 12 days, NOT SMOKED.
-Buy more qtips

I just may have this thing licked.

ITs the weekend! Well I work all weekend, but I am hoping its going to be quiet. Decided I am not going to smoke or drink over the next three days and then go from there. Hard work is starting to pay off at the gym... losing wieght is a little more difficult then it has been in the past, but i got time. More time then if I was smoking. ;)

It goes by fast... maye too fast? Take a deep breathe and enjoy every momment.

Mac IS THE MAN.

What a difference a week makes....

And I made sure I took it easy today avoiding all possible dramas...

Off to bed... had crazy dreams last night. I was at a music festical and I was using an ATM machine to get cash to buy extacy pills. Woke up before I got to take them. lol
