well, he was willing to do all that. but, there is only one road from there to here, and its closed due to a 17 car pileup and a semi on fire.

it simply was not meant to be for this weekend. and, i am ok with that. (a little bummed but i will survive)

A bone to pick with my good and trusted friends.

It would have been nice, and reflective of even a modicum of civility, if one of you non-smokers of sucky town would have taken 12 seconds to say, "Sorry about the loss of your uncle, Mac." Even if you didn't give a flying fuck at a rolling donut about me, you could have a tossed-out a crumb of feigned care.

Conversely, we seem to be people of strong feelings and convictions here so, even if you didn't give a farthing of a dingle's damn, you could have had the candor to say, "Fuck you, and the horse you rode in on, Mac. I care not. If you have any friends, fuck them too."

At least it would have been some recognition. A nod. A wink. A tip of the hat.

But other than than that, Mrs. Lincoln, hope you enjoyed the play.

Sheesh, you humps, I thought we were at least cyber pals.

let me be the first to apologize. i don't know how, but i missed your announcement about your uncle. i care. and i send my sincere sympathies. i should be sure to spend more time carefully reading thru the posts of our fellows here on our support thread. be well Bx.

Mac, you write so well that the rest of us writers wonder how to drag our pathetic fingers over the keys. Your tribute to your uncle brought tears to the eyes and it was as if there was nothing left to say. Speechless. Sadness. The whole existential anguish of why we lose the ones we love and what purpose can it possibly serve that we should be so mortal? Dust in the wind, fields of barley, denim blue faded up to the sky, howling at the sunset. We go on with jagged bits of us into another day because it is what we do. He was a great man. He was part of you.

My thoughts are always with you.

Salt, been there done that. Remember only that you are strong yet vulnerable still. If you date and get involved, make sure your friends check out every one of your new relationships. It helps because such loss confuses the best of us.

109 for me today (had to check the calendar lol)

Lung issues....GONE!

Heart arythmia.... all but gone!

Energy levels.... getting better!

Time spent with family rather than smoking.... 50% more!

Overall general health is greatly improved.

Still smoking weed however and that seems to be getting a little more regular especially when dinking around the house....I'll need to work on that!

On a side note, we have booked our quitting smoking vacation for Disneyland next month. We figured that with the sale of grams house, we will have the dough to do it rather than waiting till the end of the year when we may not.

Funny thing is that we have been there 4 fucking times already and we are actually excited for the 5th time. So excited in fact, my 12 yo son and 18 yo daughter have been wearing their mickey mouse ear caps for weeks since I suggested it.

My bad, I shoulda said hawaii or something...lol
Thats fine though, any time with a happy family is better than a real vacation any day!

I am so sorry for your loss Mac, really, truly sorry.
My only defense was I was unplugged the last day or so while trying not to focus on being a quitter and just being a non smoker.

It was when I brought up how this thread had inspired me to quit in another thread did I feel ready to check back in.

Your uncle sounded like a good sort of soul that could rival my father when it came to errant ways.

Fox, the loss of your vacation is this groups gain so we will selfishly be happy.

Not a problem at all OneLove. And understood. Glad you're here and in my life.

For me, your 23 days trumps all. We're non-smokers here and our focus is on new life. Our collective new lives as non-smokers.

When all is said and done, our primary purpose here is to support each other in keeping at least one flank defended (by our choosing to not smoke) from the reaper's greedy grasp. This we do daily and I know my time as a non-smoker has been enhanced greatly by your presence (and your committment to your life) over the last 23 days. For that, and more, I thank you.

Day 51. Seriously, the cravings and triggers are all but gone. Today i made the choice, to not have a smoke or an alcoholic drink. Going to eat healthy, go to work, and go to the gym afterwords. When I get home, i am going to have some relaxation tea, play some meditation music, and get a good nights rest.

To all the quitters out there, havea great, loving and peaceful day. To all the people who are reading this thread wanting to quit....you can do it. It starts with a momment.

Thats excellent! You have earned it! And its a great idea! I am turning 40 this year and would like to take a nice vacation...

Was searching for an acupuncturist and found this questionaire on adrenal fatigue.

I scored 160! Severe Adrenal Fatigue.


For me, this high score and associated symptoms are directly related to my smoking. I sit down or stop and smoke, at the physical level for the energy - via my nervous system being stimulated by the nicotine.

The severe adrenal fatigue - adrenals give you energy - I found has correlated also with the issues associated with boundaries which I first spoke of when I initially came and posted on this most excellent thread.

I am blessed to have a rich history of herbal training which I can now use to heal thyself - with the acupuncture and other healing modalities.

My husband who also quit on 1/1/13 is now going through an intense - induced by his own immune system - spontaneous cleansing. I am giving him a healing tea I mixed with elderberry, oatstraw, pau d'arco and chamomile, raw honey and a little lemon (optional) for the coughing. I am also having him dry skin brush and take hot salt baths with rosemary oil and a drop or two of tea tree oil and then wrap up under the covers while slightly damp on the bio mat.

Just use your search to find out about the herbs and healing modalities to see what might work for you.
