Guenwyfar User ID: 24419775 United States 10/13/2012 01:53 PM Report Abusive Post Report Copyright Violation | Sooo they really think these people that they're targeting won't get it somehow? Pft. I admit I like wine and beer. Home brew it. The cheap store bought stuff gives me headaches anyway because of the preservatives in it. It tastes better made at home and its probably better for you as well. Guenwyfar "Karma is like a rubberband.. it can only stretch so far before it comes back and smacks you in the face." Dauthiatull User ID: 20817440 Canada 10/13/2012 02:06 PM Report Abusive Post Report Copyright Violation | for you poor ausies Quoting: Dauthiatull orange spice mead 9kg honey 6 large oranges sliced into large pieces. leave skin on 6 handfuls if raisins 2 tablespoons each of cinnamon nutmeg allspice 1 teaspoon clove small packet of fleischmann's traditional yeast need an air tight bucket (6 us gallons) with a hole in lid for a stopper with an air trap. (use the 2 piece ones because the 1 piece ones clog easily) put honey in bucket. add water to make a total of 6 us gallons mix very well add all other ingredients and yeast cover and let ferment until it drops clear. about 2 months (yes its a ling time but it partially ages it as well. siphon into another container set sit for 2 weeks then bottle. a bit bitter at first but drinkable. aged for 1 year it gets very smooth. average cost per batch is $3 cdn per bottle. Champagne yeast is better if you can get it. might not work since this formula was worked out that yeast specifically. fleischmann's traditional yeast is very tolerant of less than optimal conditions. its a good one for first time brewers. I recommend they just follow this until they become more proficient before experimenting. failed batches can get expensive. TOO COMPLEX! Find a neighbor with a fruit tree. Done. mix a bunch of stuff in a bucket of water and wait is too complex? you're a rocket scientist arn't you? |
