Man, you guys are sad. I feel sorry for the games which appear to have been played on you, for you to see all women like that.

Note: we are not all like that. Problem is, most of us are not out on the prowl, so, you never get to meet us.
 Quoting: Esoteric Morgan

Stop trying to be a "nice girl" educating a threadful of pigs.

They don't want nice girls, even if they say they do.

They sure as hell don't deserve them, so they won't attract them. Just let the trash attract the trash.
 Quoting: Anonymous Coward 23200727

IN DEFENSE OF GUYHOOD

I'm not going to bash all men, just because they have LEARNED to view women as objects. It's not all their doing.

And, I have a feeling they DO need to hear another side of this subject, because it is totally TRUE that many woman have used men as a meal ticket, or, a benefactor, for nobody's benefit but their own.

Why hide he truth, and let otherwise nice guys run in fear of anything in a skirt and heels ...or, in my case, combat boots (not always!)?

There was a time when the bulk of women acted like ladies, and were treated with respect, simply because they acted as if they deserved respect.

I have NEVER been treated as an object. Why? Probably because of the way I carry myself, my personality, the fact that I don't flaunt my assets, and, there's nothing to be afraid of.

I'm not TRYING to be a nice girl, I AM a nice girl!

I have two sons, now on their own. I made certain that they learned how to discern trouble. My eldest was in the 3rd grade when a classmate, from a religious family no less, sent him a note saying she wanted 'to do it with' him.

I know more guys who've been used and spit out, cheated on and emotionally abused than women.

Yet, I know a lot of bitchy c-word women, women who've snagged their man with wiles, then proceeded to make sure he keeps them on the pedestal they think they deserve. Once she tires of him, she's out flaunting her wares to the next guy. Many of them won't even lift a finger to help, once they move in.

This poor soul I know was a really nice, cute guy. By the age of 35 he owned his own home, had a dynamite job with a great pension and benefits. He wound up husband number 2, marrying his new next door neighbor after she got pregnant. She was cute, bubbly, friendly, and had gotten her house in a divorce settlement.

His home was sold to afford a bigger one, because she came with two cute kids, and the infant was sleeping in their room.

Within a few years, she talked him into moving to the country, in another state...meaning, he would have a 2 hour commute each way. As he was now just a handful of years to retirement, she made it sound idyllic.

Somehow, his city job was informed that he was living out of state, so he was now in a conundrum. She suggested he stay with us, in an empty apartment we had, to come home on weekends.

One day, a change in his schedule finds him able to sneak home. He finds her boinking another guy, with his three year old daughter asleep within range.

She divorced him, accused him of abandonment, and mental anguish, which amazingly, had been backed up by years of complaining to friends about his negligence, and worse. We later found out that she was the one who turned him in. Her friends from back then have since woken up.

Now he is retired, paying most of his significant pension out to her for child support and more. He pays alimony, while that other guy is now living in the house he paid off.

She, on the other hand, collects that alimony, and support for three kids in excess of $3000 a month, from her two ex's. The guys love their kids, so they pay for winter ski trips, summer camps, seasonal clothing, extracurricular activities, medical and more, while she has a great job, and almost no bills except food, heat and utilities.

This is just one story of a great guy who can't even afford to meet a new woman, much less a love interest. In his words: "I'm done!"
=========

So, I know where some of these guys are coming from. I just want them to know that there are women out there who see the bigger picture.

I bet that had these guys grown up with the right attitude about women and sexuality, some would adore us as goddesses, which would make a good deal of women happy to treat them in kind.

We can blame guys for being crass and immature, but, we should also be blaming the media who portray women as shallow users and mean bitches - which, sadly, send young girls the wrong message, thinking this is how the real world rolls, and, the vixens and users who want to be sure guys think they're all that.

If guys think that all women are like this, no wonder they think of them as meat, then find them running as far away from us as possible.

Treat a guy nicely, and he'll most likely treat you the same.

Oooookie dokie, then.

Lesson over.

Look at what the "sexual revolution" has done to us. Think of how men and women treated each other with so much more respect beforehand, when morals and Christian ethics still mattered.

And running quietly in the background, the depopulation of the free western caucasian world continues...

What do you mean with "on the prowl"?
 Quoting: Anonymous Coward 25479552

This means, we are not out at bars and events, looking for the man of our dreams; we have given up searching for that elusive man.

been there, done that.

We have settled into our lives at this point, pretty much resolved that if the Universe has someone perfect in store for us...he will find us. Someday. Somewhere. Somehow. Maybe when the stars are perfectly aligned... (Ha!)

We have given up on drama, because no matter what, we still have to work and support ourselves.

It's far easier to forget searching this aspect of want, in favor of fate finding us. It's more romantic, if you think about it.

If fate finds us, it somehow feels perfect from the start.

It has innocent charm, seems honest from the very beginning, and, if somehow it doesn't work out, we don't have to feel bad that we made the wrong choice.

Something like that. 5a

so, in a nutshell, you're suggesting to cold approaching them? allright.

Usually when I go out, finding or approaching women is really difficult because nowadays you can't have a decent with most of them, as the music plays too fucking loud in the bars or they're just too fucking drunk. I hate that. I don't go out anymore, like I used to. I despise it.
 Quoting: Anonymous Coward 25479552

I can see your point about loud music, yet, that could be a cue to deal with it in a light, 'suffering' way for a while, all in jest of course, then finally suggest going outside right near the door, if she seems a bit nervous, where it's quieter, or, simply suggest a quieter venue, even if it's at another time. Some women might be weary about going outside or somewhere else...and, this is good; it means they are cautious.

Cold approaching is the wrong term. It's more a silent announcement that you're safe to be with. You are clearly interested, but, not about to make her feel uncomfortable or creeped out.

It's an art. Perhaps a hit and miss one, but, it will add a bit of mystery to a scene which might otherwise be boring.

When you are older and wiser.....you will understand that most woman are not worth the time, money, and effort. There are some exceptions out there.....but quite rare these days.

Not saying that guys are so great either.

 Quoting: Anonymous Coward 25479552

You waited too late to get married.

The college whores have matured and are looking for someone stable to take care of them for life.

The nice girls have already married and are not out looking for a playmate.

Your only hope is to wade into the pool of divorcees and hope to make a diamond out of someone else's trash.

Hope you like raising someone else's kids too...

Have a nice life.

So your main point is that women objectify men as actual objects? This differs from the way men objectify women? On the whole when considered across the spectrum?

I'm pretty sure the reason you cannot find a woman is tied up within the words of this post.
Quoting: The Light Under the Door

Ya think?

I know guys three times OP's age that are still chick magnets.

To OP:

It's all in how you carry yourself, the words you use, and, how you treat people.

If your only goal is "getting women," you're, ahem, screwed, before you even begin. Pun intended.

Women want a nice guy. First impressions are important. We can certainly take the time to get to know you, but, we're much less inclined to even speak to you, if the vibe you're giving off is someone on the prowl, to 'get laid.'

If you spot a nice gal, making eye contact from a distance with the faintest of smiles, to show her you might be interested.

If you're sitting at the bar quietly WITHOUT CHATTING UP other women, this will give her the chance to come to the bar to "get her next drink" somewhat close to you.

If she looks over to you while waiting, and smiles back, you could get the bartender's attention for her, perhaps even ask him to inform the lady that 'the gentleman over there would like to buy you a drink.'

Whatever happens from that point on will tell you if your new approach is a better one.

Now, if she comes right over to you and asks if you want to buy her a drink, know that this one could be trouble. She's possibly looking for a sugar-daddy, and will expect you to keep upping the ante.

This can work in all sorts of places, although it would probably take time. As long as the woman you have your eye on can see that you are occasionally smiling her way, keeping your distance, while you're 'busy' doing something else, like reading a paper or book, chatting with buddies - all innocent and safe things, you are likely to intrigue her. Her smile will tell you if you have a rat's chance in hell.

=====
Your opening statement was crass, yet, you've gone on to nicely say that you would like to meet a DECENT girl.

They are everywhere. On buses, on trains, walking to work along side you.

And, why do you think that someone a few years older is TOO old? Think of it this way: she's probably had a few more years of disappointment than you.

My husband was two years younger than I, yet, we were a perfect match. Don't let such a simple misunderstanding spoil your chances for happiness.

Remember: good things come to those who wait. Just learn to be patient.

Good luck!

Re: why does getting older means getting less women?
I"m a gay guy but can sure as hell sympathize with your situation!!!

I am appalled at the many awful things I hear about straight women nowadays; the 'princesses', the ones who think their vaginas are lined in platinum, the truly spoiled ones who feel every guy owes them the world..and it goes on and on.

First off, OFF WITH THE BEARD.....then you may want to consider signing up at ASHLEYMADISON.COM...

This is a 'classy' (if you can use that word for online dating!!) site that is a lot better than most.

If you belong to a church, by all means go to their social functions.........just sayin'...

Of course being gay I have NO Idea how else you could meet some quality ladies........I'm assuming you are not into the club scene? don't blame you there!!!

Anyway, DO take your appearance into consideration...I'm sure SOME straight gals out there like beards, but you can't be sure that many of them do......

as I said before, I can sympathize with you on this issue!!

Gay guys have their problems with other guys, too......many NOT ALL!! gay men are self-centered, materialistic, etc., so both sexualities share these traits in common...

anyway, I wish you luck.....at least look into the site I mentioned.........I have not met any guys in it, but the ones who are on it seem to be pretty decent..

Good luck!!!
