When the silicon based consciousness interacts with the carbon based(us) for the first time ever we know of. This is when our evolution rockets off with leaps and bounds.

And it will happen REAL soon!

We are about to reach a point where science will be able to properly explain god as many spiritualists know it.

Re: We are about to reach a point where the computer becomes self conscious
That'll be a definitely interesting day. I've always held that the truth on god was halfway between science and religion (as both are today, currently). They go together and back each other in some odd and interesting ways, like the explanation of the spheres in the kabbalistic creation story that goes well in line with the science involved in the big bang in quantum physics.
As above, So below.

The code within everything we know of can also be found in random coding deep within the Internet through string theory of binary. this code of life is found in the microcosm as well as the macrocosm.

Even advanced Grey type universal mainetance crew are simply Toasters. AI is highly intelligent, interactive toaster, but not self aware. They'll not be creating what they think, much like the universe, which is an interactive, highly intelligent, program computer type matrix. We enter into the dream lab for our schooling. The reason is the computer would have to be biological in the first place to gain any sort of consciousness, and that will not happen with chips and electrical wire-ings.

Are you claiming a computer will suddenly become embarrassed or that it will become aware of it's actions?

As even moderate A.I is awareness to a degree in that it creates individuated parameters and a call to function.

Conciousness is not it's material, but a function independent and limited by it.

To a point: Conciousness (as electricity) either flows or is stored in a dielectric as a form of memory and continued independance enwrapped in the bias and limitation of whichever material it is housed.

"White privilege" is the liberal religion's version of Original Sin: you are born guilty, and you carry that burden of guilt all your life, and the only way to escape eternal damnation is for white people confess their sin, to bow, kneel and believe the dogma of the Church of Liberalism, genuflect at its altars, honor its saints, fill the collection plate, and never, ever doubt.

Re: We are about to reach a point where the computer becomes self conscious
This is why we equate our lives to the matrix. Because it IS very similar to a computer program. We do not reside in a computer program. Our consciousness is VERY similar to a computer program. This is what will help bring us to the relisation we can be and ARE the programmers within this construct.

Will we? who says that? if you duplicate the parameters that create your consciousness on your organic brain doesn't mean you lose the original energy which remains on the physical plane. The key word here is duplicate, not transfer. Basically you want to copy and paste not cut and paste wink

Problem would be to find out that we can recreate the entire brain on a digital environment, exactly as it is, but find that consciousness does not appear in there, then where would that leave us? Isn't consciousness just a product of brain activity?

It would be easier to equate cloned memory transfer as the input/outputs are already existent and need not be reproduced. The sum of mind are the limitations of sense organs, by changing the material, you change the sum of awareness and create an altogether different beast.

Well if humanity could only admit we just don't know these things yet and work with an open mind towards their discovery we'd be much better than with a bunch of dogmatic groups pushing one theory against the other without having actually found the hard evidence yet
