So you were likely late teens or around 20 in 1070, which means your parents were probably born between 1930 and 1940?

If so, THEY are to blame for a great deal of wrong in this country - they were a selfish lot, and now that they're around 80, most of them have NO sense of accountability, they don't believe they are to blame for ANYTHING!

I married at the age of eighteen in 70,to a still beautiful woman. I ran with a little older crowd.
I don't know how to blame my parents generation. I watched my father work himself into an early grave providing for me and my siblings. My mother was a saint..
Somehow, I bet, That my fathers generation could have found a few good ways to blame thier parents generation for things. WW11 would have been a good excuse for them, or even WW1 for that matter. Nope ole dad and mom got jobs, bought a home and raised us kids with morals and a sense of responsibility..

Well, truth is, EVERY generation is to blame for countless problems, that's a fact.

I'm about 4 years younger than you and I've got little to no respect for our parents' generation . . . some were smart and sensible, no doubt . . . mine were basically selfish and they had no compunction about throwing trash out the car windows - to them, the earth was their own trash can . . . they never even TRIED to make this country a better place for themselves, for me, or their future grandchildren . . . and now, all they do is blame and bitch and have spent their entire lives sitting back while this country goes to hell and they would NEVER, EVER admit to any culpability for anything.

Well, It's obvious they did some good for your childhood.
You have internet access and a pretty good grip on expression.
Compunction, you are not the 47%

Well, I appreciate that my parents did not allow me to be a wild, out-of-control brat like "parents" have for the past couple of decades . . . but it's only been during the past 20 years or so that I realized just how bad some of their actions were as people and parents and how disconnected they were in so many ways . . . so I took the little good and a lot of the bad into consideration in raising my child, trying to be an extra-good parent. What I have learned, what I've achieved, how I parented, my own morals and ethics and my want to make the world better is because of MY efforts and determination - they had nothing to do with any of it. But you know what's really puzzling is that my child, now one of those twenty-somethings, who had SO much potential from a strong foundation, has become a completely self-absorbed, detached, and discompassionate young woman who wanted to be treated like an adult - but not have to be part of the sometimes unpleasant responsibilities that go along with being an adult, and she's thrown away the only family she had.

Go figure.
