I also participated in the IPA program in the 70s, 1st grade, NYS. It included a 44 letter alphabet, where boi=boy.

I can still recite most of the alphabet, and was always at the top of the class in reading, writing, spelling.

My mother actually had to sign a permission slip in order for me to attend, it was not mandatory, as there was only one first grade class to participate, and only taught for the the one year 72-73.
