I also participated in the IPA program in the 70s, 1st grade, NYS. It included a 44 letter alphabet, where boi=boy.

I can still recite most of the alphabet, and was always at the top of the class in reading, writing, spelling. 1dunno1

My mother actually had to sign a permission slip in order for me to attend, it was not mandatory, as there was only one first grade class to participate, and only taught for the the one year 72-73.

I was in a class that was like yours. Not everyone in school was included. Only our class.
I too was at the top of my class in reading, writing and spelling. My math skills must have been damaged by the IPA. Ha
